Well more the half sov experts.

Have acquired in a card game a 1897 Veiled Head Half Sovereign and wondering an indicative price/value on this.
Google threw up two coin dealers in Australia with prices between $1250 and $2050 (I am assuming they have a very large mark up).
The thing is mine looks in better condition than the photo of their items.

Also is this worth getting graded?

Sorry Spannermonkey, forgot to add photos to come, take a while to get from my phone to my email

Depends on the grade and mint-

F - $250
vF - $300ish depending on the mint

(ref 2014 McDonalds)

The higher grades command a decent price but with yours - it's all about the grade. I don't mean to rain on your parade but without a photo or a clue we are all fishing in the dark.

Edited to add reference.

Hi Belvedere, thanks for the info, and dont worry about raining on my parade (much better than pissing in my pocket) as its value added to the pot was only $100 so I knew I was ahead, just didnt/know how much.
Anyway, pretty ordinary photos below

Very, very nice. That would be worth at least taking to a decent coin dealer for an opinion on grade. I think it is much better than I implied in my pessimistic post. Don't let him con you into selling it.

Good score.
