Is it legal to gamble with precious metal?

Just say I had a legit online gambling site and people would be able to buy game chips with physical copper/silver/gold, play with others in various games, and winnings could be withdrawn in physical copper/silver/gold..

Can I get away with running something like this if I had the software to do it?

Market volatility would not be in your favor.
 
I was thinking 100 chips per grams of silver buy in, no matter about where the market goes.. So when a player wants to withdraw they get silver sent to them. per 100 chips, this would never change no matter how high or low silver goes.

I'll put a free one up later if anyone wants to try it out, same software as 888 (real money) and sealswithclubs (bitcoin) poker site software.

I can set up tourneys and all sorts of poker games on there.. eg. Have daily free rolls. low/high chip tables.. It's heaps of fun if you like poker.
