Pyrite help

Hey not sure if this is the right section it seemed fitting enough.

I recently traded an ex miner a 6 pack of beer for now (chipped some off for a guy at work) 4.2kg’s worth of Peacock pyrite.

Guy at works all in a fluster and telling me that it’s worth $1 a gram, I’m kinda shrugging it off, should I be?.. have I just dumb lucked an awesome trade or just stick with giving the 4kg rock to my boy?

It’s all solid pyrite no other contaminants on it.
 
It's not worth $1/gm, it'd be closer to $10/kg.

Your friend wouldn't have trade $4000+ worth of ore for a 6pack.

But it's a good trade if you know what to do with it. Put some pics up.
 
There could be up to 18 grams of gold.
According to wiki there may be gold intermingled in the matrix of pyrite. I watched a russian youtuber recently crushing up granite that was high in pyrites and extract good gold from it. He said the pyrite was holding the gold. Also a link describing how some ores wont yield until they have been baked first because the gold is too fine in the matrix of pyrites to be able to be panned or even amalgamated with mercury.

EDIT~sorry 14 grams- i used 5 kilo instead of actually re-reading-naturally i had already exaggerated how big it was in my own mind!:D
