Precious metals in cold conditions

If precious metals were stored at or near freezing temperature, would this cause any damage to the surface of the metals?

Hmmm... It's a good point.

My guess is "Yes" it would. Moisture would likely condense on the metal. The more variable the temperature the more condescension and evaporation cycles would be experienced and the greater the effect. Oxygen is another aspect. Moisture, oxygen, temperature.

If I ever find out where you live, I'm going to raid your freezer. :P

Nope. I've stored few different kinds of plain bullion silver in the freezer before and nothing happened.

HAHAHA:)
Got em.

Last week Caput started a thread and revealed that he just moved 6 hours away from Sydney and that the Westpac bank there only allowed up to 6 kilos of storage in their safe. And because it doesn't snow in NSW, he can't be thinking of burying the excess of his PMs in the ground. Dumbo just gave it away.

Anyone have any issues storing your good and plenties with Westpac, specifically between different branches? I'm in the process of moving and had some stored with the current branch without any issue. To my horror, I've been told from the branch where I'm moving to won't accept anything with more weight than 6kgs - OH&S issues apparently. I can and probably will increase my storage with a private vault which will cost a pretty penny more and is roughly 6 hours away from where I live and I f*cking hate Sydney. As far as I know none of the other majors have SDB facilities so my options are limited. I'm both outraged and mortified too.

Yes, but I doubt very much that he moved to the highlands near Vic border.

It's 6 hours away from Sydney ;)

A 6 hour radius drive from Sydney covers practically all of NSW. So the chance that he moved there is small. Odds are stacked that it's in his freezer. ;)

If CL's freezer ever gets raided, Skyrocket is the prime suspect :P

Whenever someone uses a hourly figure distance to a place, it's always by car. ;)
