[PR] Why Pandas Are A Good/Better/Best Investment

I don't know if this is common thinking, but I don't buy Pandas because the CCP is asshole. Objectively the coins are aesthetically pleasing and high quality, but the government that produces them keeps ethnic minorities alive in camps awaiting someone who needs a liver or heart, they're evil.

I don't disagree with you at all on this. I haven't bought new in a long time, just some of the pre-2009 bears.

wow it must be hard to not buy anything made in China these days. o_O Good on you if it's true.

@tater, most of the Panda guys have dropped off the radar here. You could try contacting Peter Anthony who used to frequent this forum at pandacollector.com. The MCC forum based in the States I used to frequent seems non-existent now unfortunately.

Curious where they all went. Maybe pandas have lost there steam.

Makes you wonder what will be hot in the next ten years. Couldn't have predicted libertads, personally.

Ive picked a several tubes of 2023 Britania's.
Its the only year that we will see a Quen & a King on seperaye Coin's in the same year , well at least in our and our kids lifetimes.
Should make them a bit special in years to come.
Look great also.
Just My 2 Cents.

Are they minted to demand?

Online marketing for panda officially from mint, coins dealers and individual been die down.

many china coins sell buy offline. The tension between usa and china has leading to higher tax on china coins which affect a bit of coin availability in usa. Price need add taxes and so on.

number of usa dealers been old and pass away. Some has hit hard by covic and no business to close down.

Peter in Dec 22 with me in Singapore.

he is Pcgs Asia consultant now.

I just purchased my first 2000 Silver Panda 10 Yuan "Mirrored Ring" its OTW now.

I have been collecting Pandas since 2006 and have every date in the 1oz silver set except a few of the varieties like SD, LD and varieties like Proof like or Frosted versions.

Recently the 2001 small D, 1990 Proof Small P, and a few other varieties have come to the surface with the help of NGC and PCGS.

Pandas have incredible potential. I was buying a lot of 2014's back at $18/spot for $22/coin. I think I got like 40-50 of them at the time. Now they go for $110/each in 2026.

I love panda coins, they're fabulous. But the massive counterfeiting made me worried. I only buy those with PCGS/NGC. At least they have more chance to be genuine.
If you do a very small bit of research its very easy to tell the difference between an authentic Panda and a fake Panda coin. The Pandas make several changes to the coins that make authentication easier. The panda temple steps are smooth on 1983,84,85's. The steps are smooth on 1989 but wide up to 1991 still wide steps. Then you go to 1992-2001 and the steps are smooth and narrower than 89-91. When you get to 2002 you get the textured steps with the 3 ridges on the bottom that look like little mountains on the steps. After 2001 starting in 2002 you get diagonal reeding as well on the coins which is different from 2001 and earlier.

Then in 2006 they started using capsules and no double seal so you can't look at the seals anymore.

Then in around 2013 they started using the 15 and 30 pack sheets in harder cases inside the monster boxes instead of the 30 pack sheets in softer plastic trays.

Then in 2015 they did not put any weight or anything on the coins but still 1 Troy OZ. .999.

In 2016 they moved into 30 GRAM weight and included all the info back on the coin...specs 30 grams .999 silver.

I think the move to the 30 grams was a mistake and obviously 2015 was a big mistake as well..those are the worst 1oz Pandas you can get right now...maybe long term people will like them but I don't.

So they are VERY easy to authenticate with a little bit of effort.
