Nobody can look after your interests better than you. Chalk it up to your education fund. You don't need a DW you just need to D.I.Y

In a super fund? I believe new legislation requires assets to be valued at fair value. This means you will have incurred a loss if at 30 June the 'fair value' is less than you paid for it. For a bullion bar or coin, fair value will be spot plus premium so yes, you will show losses in the fund.

Technically it's "Market Value" which is defined as:

"market value" , in relation to an asset, means the amount that a willing buyer of the asset could reasonably be expected to pay to acquire the asset from a willing seller if the following assumptions were made:

(a) that the buyer and the seller dealt with each other at arm's length in relation to the sale;

(b) that the sale occurred after proper marketing of the asset;

(c) that the buyer and the seller acted knowledgeably and prudentially in relation to the sale.

Remember that this is not to scale... I hope i am at the bottom of the dip, and not just one or two dot points down... Maybe i have seen the bottom with loss of 39% but maybe i have a lot more to lose!!! If only i sold when i had lost 10% and waited to re-enter.... But then i may have had to buy in at a higher price.. It is all crystal ball stuff.... What's for dinner??? Lets change the subject!!!
