Platinum may be ready for upward movement

Agreed Pt is one of those metals that supply-demand is balanced on a knife edge. I hear China and India are selling 3 million new cars a month to their population. Southern Africa supply is not going well and supply from Russia is a complete unknown. It wil suddenly disappear then it will be too late to buy.
 
I thought this was the case a year ago, but the price dropped significantly. Happy to admit I was wrong. I bought some more in December, but I think there'll be awhile to wait before it pushes above Gold, let alone $2k/oz. I hope I'm wrong again, but hope isn't something one should rely on. If the economic outlook is poor, that's bad news for PGMs as their demand is industrial driven.
 
I am not sure you are right as new demand is now from India and China as they legislate the use of CAT converters. This is the demand that is going to count - not the broke Europeans. Demand is only one side - production is down 1.2 million oz of a 5Million oz annual production. So this is going to blow up ? When ? No one knows....

Increasing cars

Increasing pollution

Increasing use of Pt for cleaner cars.

Yes it's not needed, also don't expect everyone driving electric cars anytime soon. My guess is 30+ years. Battery tech has a looooong way to go. We can't all just cramp 7000+ 18650 batteries into a 2200kg car like tesla. Aww god I hate that car, but that's for another topic.

I'm strating to get a the platinum itch. Been wanting to enter for a while, but funds are low arm.

Hmm, Tesla will be accepting orders for the $35,000 Tesla 3 car at the end of the month. I'm not a big fan of electric cars myself, but more and more people are jumping on the electric bandwagon. And they have spurred other car makers to start making electric versions as well. So it's only a matter of time.

I think that if you want to get some platinum, you should get something that has numismatic potential (like the 2015 proof eagles for example).
 
Tesla 3 will be rubbish for something that cost $50,000 AUD. only a few hippies will buy it.

Are there many electric power stations where you are? Because here in oz there is stuff all. Regardless, until there is better battery tech it will not be used by the masses.

Totally agree but where are you going to find the low mintage 2015 Platinum Proof Eagle for like under US$2,000. You could probably buy most other years for less than you can the 2015....but I haven't researched prices on these in a while.


And also, couldn't a similar argument be made for silver. I have read numerous articles on how silver isn't at all indispensable for solar cells or most other items it is being used in?


It's because of factors like this that I have been diversifying my silver stack with blobs and (semi)numismatic items.
