Found a bloke willing to sell me one of these in Bali !
Dirty and pretty worn. (he doesn't know it's value)
I can't post a pic right now because on iPhone.

Calculator says -

USA $10 Eagle

0.900Fine 0.4839Ozt

16.718Grams $794.76

What should I do? Weigh it?

THANKYOU

If in doubt - leave it out.

Seriously, $800 is a lot of money to risk. Well it is for me anyway. I'd stick with buying from reputable sellers.

LOL - it's Friday and I've been drinking so I'm putting a dirty spin on everything :P

It looks the goods to me, although I've never seen one before.

Not a coin shop. They trying to sell me 'silver' jewelry in a crappy thongs and bintang singlets and ripoff sunnys shop, I showed him a kooka 'THIS is silver' a I asked he wanted to show me some old coins, it was with a bunch of Indonesian coins, he really thought it was an Indonesian coin.

And he doesn't know what it's worth, his beginning price for bartering was 5,000,000 rupia (~$500)

I COULD be onto an awesome bargain here

Best course of action?

I'm thinking out loud here - weigh it - water displacement test to verify its .900fine - if it passes 1000% make lowball offer of the decade ??

THANKYOU

I can almost guarantee you that they are much smarter than you and it is 99.9% fake. Anybody who has been to Asia knows that the people view westerners as easy marks.

If I'm reading you right you've already made your decision.

Good luck

I think it's time to swing it back in my direction this bloke had a handful of gold (coloured) coins, told me they're all gold (yeh right) and this eagle got my attention, probably maybe some others were gold too idk. Anyway he is literally clueless.

Gold from a street vendor in Bali? Pass.

Looks fake, lustre is wrong.

Ask Aurora et Luna about bargain "bullion" from Asian hawkers.

USA pre-33 gold is commonly faked.
