Australia is nowhere near ready to go cashless.
We need a stable power grid and reliable network coverage in rural and remote areas. Walk into any country pub or general store and you'll notice that people are using cash there more so than in the city. Townies are tapping their cards, phones, watches and water bottles
, they love the "convenience' but by doing so their slowly removing choice privacy and freedom.
I make sure to use cash regularly, I'm also paid with cash.
I've seen the chaos during a extended blackout in sa and massive line ups at the checkouts when the internet is down. "Oh you've got cash.... come on through"
Coincidentally i spent some time counting cash today for a silver trade not a trace of the transmission could be traced tracked or proven beyond the sale... total privacy all in a brown paper bag just the way I like it.
