Perth Mints 'Saltwater Crocodile' bullion coin breaks cover in Europe

dont know if someone answered this or not but is this a permanent design or will they change it to different animals or different designs of crocs every year?

Last time I discussed the coin with the mint, no decision in this regard had been made. It may simply be a one-off design with a totally different release next year.

Apparently, it's been quoted by the Perth Mint that it already has designs for the next two years confirmed. Personally I think they'll be wildlife, but maybe not specifically crocodile based.

Someone forgot to tell Downies that this is a low cost bullion coin, just got an email from them offering this one for $39.95

That's some cheap bullion right there. I'm going to grab a few monster boxes before they run out

That's weird! Maybe the worldwide mintage of 1 million coins has already been allocated and Downies may have a low allocation for this bullion coin??? :|

No wholesale allocations for this coin. First come, first served.

you guys make it sound like these 1 million will get gobbled up in 5 minutes. LOL. thems are a lot of coins. they'll be around for years. no rush to be spending 39.00 on a bullion coin, when you can get lunars, koalas, kooks and pandas for a lot cheaper, and they're a lot nicer too. just say'n

The design looks very little different than the RAM coins from the last couple years, seems that those didn't do so well at the $40-50 price point.

If these get into the same price point as the RCM wildlife coins then this will probably do well.

Still, 1,000,000 coins is a lot, and they will not sell out too quickly at the distributor level - even if they do at the mint.

2000 monster boxes or 40,000 tubes does not sound alot.
If PM keep the 1 oz Crocs in the series , think it is much better idea rather than wild lifes series.
Let see if this gets Snap up like a real Crocs. ;)

anyone find the lowest price over spot for croc yet? or please PM me

is it $2 , $3 or more?

i think one of the website mentioned above is $$20 over spot

Remember that the 2011 Koala was mint to order and the "final" mintage figure was 910,480 coins.

If the Croc is part of a new series "perhaps" the first issue could have appeal in the years to come but if it's just a "one-off" then.......

Anyway, maybe a few coins would be good to tuck-away while the AUD is high and spot is off its highs.

My recommendation is "Buy" a couple of tubes. But...save some bucks for the new Lunars due in September and of course lets hope we will see an Ag bullion Kangaroo.

We intend on carrying it here for North America. Aiming for a $3-3.50 over spot price point

Geezzz....so quick eh.

feels like yesterday that we all were talking about the horse release lol

Honestly with a mintage of 1 million and the price being about $4 above spot. It's not really a low premium coin, agree?

They wanted to bump up production on the Kooks etc. and got a huge backlash, the croc was a good response.

Goldstackers must be an above average dealer then ;) From their website "Orders for individual coins of less than 10 will be supplied in capsules"
If they do that, they definitely are---in that regard at the very least. That's a practice so uncommon as to be bordering on non-existent in the US.
Miniature ziploc bags (purchased in cases of thousands) are de rigueur over here.

:D

Certainly been a quick year and an interesting one...Stocky, Sharky, Croc and.....I wouldn't be surprised if Perth are very close to gearing up to strike the "Goats".

Just want to say from where I sit, this is very good news!

There are many of us who want a genuine Australian bullion coin that can compete with the Maple and ASE for price, yet serve the purposes that bullion coins do.

This has now become the most appealing form of bullion silver coin to me, and I doubt I'll be buying any other kind in the future.

Well done, Perth Mint.

PS Prices are now up at GoldStackers and Perth Bullion. GS marginally cheaper over spot, but their postage tends to be higher.

Is it just me who think Perth Mint is churning out way too many coins? They already have so many numis, and now on the bullion side we have kooks, koalas, Lunars, sharks, pacific war memorial, and now crocs!

Can't wait for the 1 oz Drop Bears to be released early Spring.

same, just ordered couple tubes. i dont see myself buying any other coin for a while, will even stop buying lunars while i stack these.

Been getting quite a few PM's about this, so just going to post this publicly.

As of right now, we will be hosting a "group buy" type of deal for no more than $3 over spot with a purchase of a full tube (a slightly higher price if less than a tube).

I'm trying to bring that price down to $2.50, but won't know the possibility of that for sure until next week :).
