At least 10% are made available through Perth Mint, or an Australian dealer, this is always the case with Australian legal tender coins. I don't know the exact specifics (someone feel free to chime in) but believe this is legislated federally.

Thanks i am happy to buy from a dealer and do but being quite new to coins and Pm,s I just found it a bit odd why Perth Mint wouldnt sell them or the ones allocated to Australia direct from the mint?

Perhaps they will if mintages numbers are well up from the first issue?

They are a mint to order job from US Dealers. And one of the legalities for it to be a legal tenser is to have 10% of mintage to be sold in australia. Same case with Stockhorse, earlier Lunar privy job etc.

Is there any reason they dont use a US mint Or do they specifically want an Australian $ coin with collectable mintage? I know Perth mint makes very good quality on the whole but is there greater restrictions in minting a small amount or very limited unique amount of legal tender overseas or in US.

I don't think Somalia Elephant Silver Coins are sold in Somalia.

Of course they do lol they are a government mint lol.

The question really related partly to why would an American company of any country want Australian legal tender silver coins that are not available to the general public in Australia? and the answer possibly is because they cant get their own exclusive USA legal tender coins because of restrictions on legal tender minting?

Will perth mint make exclusive design Australian legal tender silver coins for anyone who wants to pay for them? If so this would be great for a rich stacker, they could just buy 50,000 or more of their own design to stack exclusively other than the 5000 that needs to be available to the public.

PM just comfirmed that it is an unlimited mintage on the 2015.

Hard to decide buy or not buy. ASE price but better quality.
