A couple of PMs of interest in buying/trading for it, but no one can guesstimate a value for me? :) I can't find any example sales here or ebay. They must be a rare find? Anyway here's a pic!

i have seen johnson mathey 1000oz delivered from the perth mint. i am just wondering what the largest bar perth mint ever made and whether they ever produced silver as a world wide wholesaler or retailer only. i know they bring their silver in from all over the world but am interested to know if they are were ever a major supplier or just a reatailer since its inception. hence the question about the biggest bar made :)

Perth Mint has always been a wholesale refinery rather than retail with most of it silver coming from goild refining. It is only recently that we started to bring in silver from OS due to demand for coins, prior to 2008 the silver from gold refining was enough to meet our retail product needs.

1000oz is the largest bar we or anyone else makes and is standard wholesale market size. I don't think the standard size was ever specified higher than that, 32kg is heavy enough.

I got a couple of bars out for a swap and I found that there were (at least) two different moulds used for the F design - one which is slightly shorter, narrower but fatter than the other (on the RHS of all pics).

It's only slight but definitely there.

Will refinishing the bars have any impact on value?
WHY would you want to
Are you going to paint it ?
Or polish it ?
Again why
If it is a real vintage bar than yes it will affect the price
A standard PM 10oz bar no

Happy polishing them. ;)

Any chance of recovering this link?

The link was with one of the site sponsor. I am afraid all gone. :(

Why it got polish? Perth mint supplies them with blemished.( burned marks)
It looks yuk. So everyone for themselves.

Yep, seen that as well - even in the same box of bars new from the mint. Both molds in use at the same time.

For reference, there is the matt style Type F bar (labelled B in a sales thread just to be confusing) I currently have (next to a Type B - labelled A!).

Surface almost looks porous - nothing like the current slick finish. Ignore the A & B in the photo - they're just labels from a sale, not type references.

I have a type "b" wt 9.82 no 8048 (don't freak out its just a number)
As gp wants max and min wts for types.

Got my hands on these bars, which I have yet to see anyone post on this forum:

Comparison of two different styles:

Nice kilos - seen more of the middle extruded example than the outer ones. There are 100oz bars in similar styles to both.

I actually saw a similar 100oz go for auction on feebay Australia for ~ 2600 AUD recently.

Was tempted to buy, but I really couldn't start on collecting 100oz silver bars. Way too expensive for me!

A reposting from another thread that's relevant for this one.

Enjoy my upside down pic, tired of editing it how many times.

I prefer these clover-hallmarked Australian bars as they are seldom seen and were applied to the half kilo class as well.

The "SCCC" clover leaf hallmark was applied circa 1980 by bullion retailer Southern Cross Coins & Commodities... corner of Bourke & Exhibition Streets in Melbourne.

Thought I'd contribute a beauty to the thread. This is the rare "SCCC" hallmark. It is located on the bottom of a long "The Perth Mint" 1 Kilo Bar circa 1980's, along feature is a 4 digit serial number.

At first I didn't know what to make of it but dolomite here is a real champion and this is an awesome thread!
