Anyone here got one? Just curious if they sold many seeing as the mintage is limited to 30,000.

does anyone here even like platinum as an investment? If you believe we are in for a major recession/depression that would likely decrease the price of platinum since its more of an industrial metal right?

I think the platinum platypus coin design is truly elegant.

Yeah it's a beautiful design, I like it very much. I wanna grab one, I know I should but that much fiat in silver is tasty

Nope, only found in Australia.

The "Australian" part is a common theme the Perth Mint seem to be putting on all their bullion coins. You can see it on the 2011 "Australian Koala", the "Australian Kookaburra", the "Australian Kangaroo", etc.

Platypus exist all over the world. They just haven't been found.... yet.

Forget the black swans. The real danger in our world is the black platypus that we can't see. :)

These will be getting replaced by the 2012 design shortly. Sorely tempted to grab one.

I haven't got one yet, but I'm saving up for it. My favorite design by one of my favorite designers :D (Hence my nickname here)

The design is the same every year according to Perth Mint's media release:

Perth Mint said:
Illustrating identical artistry each year, the feature design is bordered by the inscriptions AUSTRALIAN PLATYPUS, the year-date, and the weight and purity of the coin.

I have seen one but they are tiny, I wouldn't spend any money on one.

Do they come in big sizes? I may have just seen the smallest version.

Actually, I've been searching the PM website for specs but can't find them. Does anyone have a lead on where they might be hiding?

Pretty sure they sell them in the Perth Mint Shop - at least, that's where I've seen them :)

They're all 1oz. There's older platinum coinage like Koalas that were as small as 1/20oz, but the Platypus are all 1oz.
