Perth Mint Mintages

Wow - that opens a new can of worms! Not only do we now need to know what the mintage limit is we now need to know what the "Maximum mintage limit is that Treasury approved". That is a whole different number and certainly isn't published freely that I'm aware of. And the difference in numbers is huge. The example given says a limit of 7500 but Treasury approved 30 000. What stops them minting the other 22 500 whenever they want in the future?

So now the limit is the bit of plastic or cardboard wrapping around the coin - not the coin itself! Seriously??????

The numbers would likely be in the Comlaw currency determinations that are in the public domain - but it's pretty clear that marketing language for each issue hasn't reflected the "total approved" mintages in the past.

The term 'in this packaging' just sounds so dam cheap and tacky. Its meant to be a highley collectable pure silver or pure gold coin, not a packet of chips.
Perth Mint Fail AGAIN.

So are we going to get 1st edition packaging, 2nd edition packaging, packaging with privy mark, high relief packaging versions of coins.

So I guess we get certainty of number in regards to the packaging but not the coin. I thought I was buying it for the coin. Maybe not.

This is ridiculus!! So we should be seeing more red backs soon?? Gonna deflate them

That would explain how I was able to order few sets of Lunar II - 2 oz coins - all six minted so far - because they will come in wooden box.

If they decide to do something similar with 1oz Lunar II or 1/2oz Lunar II.. I won't be happy...

Swapping packaging doesn't seem too much of a challenge. Restrikes should have a small letter or mark added to the coin to differentiate it from the first issue.
Our numi scarcer coins can easily get confused if there are new issues appearing and who can tell the difference ?
