Perth Mint Funnel-Web Spider silver bullion coin

I wonder why this Funnel Web Coin isnt as popular as others?

Do you have any? I do and they just are not the same quality product from Perth mint that all their other coins have been from past years!

I am quite new to stacking/collecting and early last year i was not fully impressed with the croc bullion coin but in reflection the croc is a magnificent bullion coin compared to the FWS.

Its as if Perth mint only put their name to this coin and it was struck elsewhere for cost savings because the quality and finish is crap!

Maybe they are doing this on purpose. Not enough people buying their top dollar proof type commemorative coins because you can get almost as nice bullion coins now for 1/4 the price. (well not now apparently)

Hmmm make the bullion less desirable and more like bullion and less like premium coins.

Its a conspiracy I tell you !

I think there could be some truth to this!

I am sure PM have seen all the USA vids of people wearing imaculate white gloves to handle a bunch of bullion grade crocs and all the complaints about non secure packaging of the croc because it didnt have a little foam peanut to stop shipping movement in tubes causing many in USA to ask for replacements from their dealers!

If a bullion grade coin from PM out classes other mints better coins then its not a true bullion grade coin, this is what the crocs have become once encapsulated.

No amount of white gloves or plastic airtights will make the FWS anything other than it was announced as being, a bullion grade coin from PM.

This should put most of you guys off buying FWs :P

I bought one today and agree the FWS just doesn't have the same standard of finish as other PM coins & in my humble opinion, I would group them in with the like of ASE. On the other hand this will make a great card protector :D

Maybe its an Adelaide thing but I'm having no problems moving these. If the next one in the series is a hit then potential for a premium on a bullion priced coin is wroth a punt.

Could it be the humidity in Sydney that is accelerating the process?

Moving them is likely not that hard since the crocs were a hit and many want to continue the series , but I am sure most who are buying these are not impressed when they finally get a look at them in hand.

But eh , I still like the spider , looks cool, just sad the finish so poor.

Don't think I'd be much good to them, I got a Heroes and Villains set that will haunt me till the end of my stacking days. :/

Got my hands on one of these critters recently. I am certain there is a 3mm splinter of silver along the inner circle of the design (might take it out of capsule to confirm) and between some of the letters the frosting has been worn away, as if it was stamped too hard :/
If they were closer to spot price then fine.
