Does anyone know how shipping costs are worked out with Perth Mint? Also have any of you used them?:D

eg. The cost of shipping two 1kg silver bars to Sydney.

Cheers

If it were me, I'd just buy from a local dealer and pick it up in person. If pick up wasn't an option, I'd probably still buy from a local dealer with cheap shipping rates.

As mentioned earlier, it's $17.50 per Kg plus 1% of total cost for insurance.

Remember to add the weight of packaging when calculating the shipping weight.
Eg 1 x 1kg bar = 2kg shipping weight when you add the 200g box!!

Ask me how I know!!

I got a quote about a month ago for a box of 100 x 1oz Lunar Mouse Coins when the price was $4277.00

Delivery was $70.00.
Plus Insurance was $47.82.

So add around $120 extra to the Perth Mint price.

So, Worried....how do you know? :)

Sometimes a pick-up order isn't feasible, especially if you are in the Hunter :( so postage always needs to be considered.
Depending on the order, sometimes the $17.50/kg +1% works out cheaper than the prices offered by retailers, mainly for bars. Easy enough to do the sums.
There is a lot to be said for developing the working relationship with your dealers though. With the mints you are just a number.
