Ive got a fair few PM numi's, mostly coloured that im tossing up what to do with.
I started in bullion in mid 08 ...rode out the sub 10 dollar (US) prices without losing my nerve but was bitterfly dissapointed in its performance as it hovered around the 15-20 dollar mark for almost two years post gfc...I was never going to sell as I have always been a "stacker" (although i didnt know it untill i found this site) but i started to pick up PM numismatics as a good way to hedge my bets to a degree if this drags out for awhile longer than I thought.
I think this strategy works well but I think I chose the wrong coins

Most my PM numi's have barely held their value and some have dropped.
Ive got 2 sets of both bush babies and famous battles in history, 6 silver mary mackillops, 2 lionfish, 2 leafy sea dragons, treasures of australia silver locket coins...opal and gold i think, a few gilded koalas, 5 coin dreaming proof set (06?) plus like 4 extra bush babies joeys and 6 extra thermoplyae coins (both first in series) plus a few other bits and pieces.
Some of these coins such as the Thermoplyae and bush babies i actually like and will definatly keep some long term but the others have been underwhelming and I would like to be rid of them and use the cash for kooks/lunars. That said i bought most of these coloured coins when silver was 15-25 on oz so selling now and buying kooks would just lock in losses whereass I could just forget about em and wait for spot price to take care of it for me
My honest opinion is buy Perth mint coloured coins only if you like them, or if you really think you have found the next redback spider then pick up one or two but they are really hit and miss. I will be sticking to lower premium rounds....with a limited mintage wherever I can.
