Perth Mint 10oz bar

Hi everyone

Long time lurker, first time poster. Ive only just started stacking and currently have a few 1oz Kookaburras and Maples and a 10oz Perth Mint bar. I just received my second 10oz Perth Mint bar from a well known shop in the mail today and it appears as if someone has previously tried to buff the front of it and in doing do removed part of the 999 rating and then just scratched it back on. Is this something I should be worried about and be entitled to a replacement bar? I've weighed the bar on ordinary kitchen scales and it's 311 grams. I'll attach some photos if i can figure out how.

Thanks in advance for the help.
Michael

It's unfortunate that the 999 has been scratched, but a messy buffed finish on a PM bar is pretty common. Most dealers have a disclaimer on their site regarding PM bars being 'bullion' or 'investment' grade - shame though!

Will I have any trouble selling it in the future? I'm not to concerned about the quality. Just potential resale problems.

For me it would depend who you got it from and at what price. If you bought something that appeared to be a new perth mint bar and paid accordingly it might be worth raising the issue. If you bought 10oz random bar that was the cheapest option then you've basically paid for scrap and done well to get as PM bar.
Frankly as long as it weighs the right amount you should be OK although you might my have as many buyers here.

As long as they didn't sell it to you as a new bar and charge you a crazy premium over spot then the marks are not an issue.
