AP will not payout insurance on precious metal as they state in their rules it is not allowed to be posted .
oh well that sucks, I guess it really is at buyers risk. And hope some meth head working in a depot doesn't steal your package.
There are some members who run businesses and can offer transit insurance cover for PMs sent using AusPost.
This is a real problem and I am wondering whether we collectively could take out such a policy under the the SS brand or similar.
If a seller states in their ad "...buyer's risk once posted..." or simiar words to that effect I will not buy and risk my money.
My view has nothing to do with a seller's reputation etc. But if you ask a well established seller to post first they seem to be offended and tell you how good their reputation is!
We must find a solution.
Perhaps some who have transit insurance can comment and enlighten us in how we can protect our our purhases when posted with AusPost.
You can send numismatic coins. So if a numismatic coin was stolen then they should pay the claim.
And yet if you bought this from Australia Post they would send it out to you in the post!
I have had packages sent to me with 'machine parts' written as item description.
Coins and bsnknotes to face value of $200.

How do you know it was stolen from the depot? Did AP say that?
Packages often end up at the wrong post office and can take weeks to arrive at the correct one.
What is the last tracking entry?
The last tracking entry is the depot where the packages leave to be delivered. It got to that depot a week ago, and no movement since.
The next entry should be, onboard for delivery.
So that gives the workers ability to steal parcels without repercussions
Oh my silver coins had a face value of $5, but would they just pay the $5 a coin, or the silver value?
It still could turn up. I've had packages take 2 or 3 weeks to turn up but they all seem to eventually.
Express Post?
Not express post but tracked. Just stuff from retailers. How stuff takes weeks to go from one side of the same city to the other is beyond me but it happens.
Express Post is very different. It is a completely separate network.
Latest tracking on the EP item has the best clue.
