PAMP 1oz Minted Gold and 10oz Minted Silver verse Perth Mint similar

Hi,

Total Bullion newbie here so please accept my stupid questions and comments as well meant.

About to make first small purchase of Bullion and am trying to decide on both size and source for some Gold and Silve as investment ... note small purchase ... say up to $10K AUD for combined bundle Gold and Silver.

From what I have been able to read the PAMP products both look both good and are not that more expensive than for the Perth Mint similar products.

Is LBMA Good Delivery an important issue when deciding at this level of purchase?

I'll start with that before I make a bigger fool of myself.

OK, one more thing, are there any recommendations for sources for PAMP .. I did look at the ABCBullion and GolddeRoyale Web Sites?

Thanks for any help offered.

I would get some of both. The thing that I like about PAMP is that their designs such as the Fortuna are quite beautiful, and they make a nice mix with PM coins and bars. I prefer PM and PAMP personally over raw "max ounces for your buck" bars. PM 1 oz Tigers that sold for $25 when they were being minted still hold considerable value now even with silver in the '20's, while rounds that sold for $18 at the time are barely worth more than spot now. PAMP and PM bars are very easy on the eye and are fun to collect.

No.

A number of the forum sponsors sell PAMP and have a wider range of other products than some of the bigger dealers. You're more likely to get better service from a smaller dealer who actually values your business.

I'll also agree with Jonesy that an attractive product is maybe worth paying a little bit extra for, but you're the ones who's going to be living with the stuff so the aesthetics are up to you. Personally, I like bullion that is attractive and/or has some historical interest or something unusual about it.

Hi,

Thanks for the feedback and advice. I am still doing homework on sources and will look more at the site sponsors as recommended but could not find one that carried both PAMP 1oz Gold Fortuna and 10oz Silver Fortuna yet.

Nice if the Partner Web Site link on the forum actually also lead to their Web Site Links.

Just a point of clarity for the future, as it is different on each forums, but the name of one of the sources I looked at was removed from my original post, was that because I did something wrong or because they are not well perceived?

Side issues.

Loved the JisLizard Table "How did you find out about precious metals" once I hit the choice of "came across some article on tech interwebs" I was cooked.

Lashed out and bought a copy of - "Rich Dad's Advisors : Guide to Investing in Gold and Silver", so I guess I am on the second wrung of the ladder now.

I will keep an eye on this and keep working.

Thanks to all

Feel free to ask dealers if they don't have something you're looking for. They might have it sitting at the back of the vault or they can source it for you easily and it will also give you a change to check out their customer service.

A member here had a very unfortunate experience with that dealer and it spilled out onto the forum when the admins here were threatened with legal action over claims of defamation.

The admins took down the offending posts and added some code to blank out the dealers name so nobody could ever say anything nasty about them again. Or anything else in fact.

See the banner ads in the top right corner of the website.

Hi,

Thanks for the clarification. Gotta say though on every other forum I have been to to tab marked Partner Web Site Links actually leads you to a list of company web site links.

Anyho I certainly tracked down the one that lead to to Goldstackers and made good use of it.

Looks likes like a good place to shop, if I can only get them to stock PAMP 10oz Minted Fortuna Bars.

Thanks :)

Hi,

Can't figure how to edit my posts so I will have to repost.

On the Goldstackers Fortuna front, I meant 10oz Minted Silver Fortuna Bars. A bunch of 10oz Minted Gold Fortuna Bars is out of my little league right now.

Sorry:(

bullionbourse.com sells both 1 oz gold pamp bars and 10 oz silver pamp bars (with the lady on).

Hi,

Thanks for the input. I had a look after I tried various browsers and found that only IE8 worked for me on their web site. One to keep in mind though.

Suisse Gold looked cheap for Gold but does not seem to carry the PAMP 10oz Silver Fortuna.

Anybody offer any thoughts on which is better as an investment 5 X 10oz PAMP Silver Fortune or 2 X 1kg PAMP Silver Cast Bars? I realize that there is a slight difference in weight and price but not sure about investment value.

Looks like both Gold and Silver got pounded overnight so it might be a good time to buy ... or wait ... maybe not too long.

Thanks

If you have NO position in gold, then today is a good day to buy your first 1-2 ounces. Otherwise, possibly wait in vain for it to fall lower.

You in Mebourne or Sydney? If Sydney, then have a look at Haggai 2:8 offering of Kangaroos (in the sales forum).

Hi,

Sat around and watched the graphs go up and down this morning and then decided to jump in when it seems OK. Got the PAMP 1oz Fortuna Gold and the PAMP 10oz Fortuna Silver I wanted and reckon I saved around $550 over buying same yesterday.

From what I understand, the "Premium" I paid for the PAMP 10oz Silver Fortuna was a bit high compared to the PAMP Gold 1oz Fortuna but I am still glad I went that way.

Can some one more experienced define "Premium" and how to calculate it for me? Can't be as simple as the spot price per (oz) at the time of purchases, compared to what you actually paid per (oz) when you bought?

A bit cash poorer but a bit more bullion happy.

Stopped watching the graphs, so it is all uphill from here.

Thanks everyone.

Yeah, that's exactly what it is: the amount of money you pay over the spot price.

You can work it out on a per-ounce (or per gram) basis to compare premiums across different sized products.

You'll also find that it is almost always calculated in dollar terms rather than percentages because percentages change as the spot price fluctuates so they're not a reliable way of comparing like-for-like for any longer than about 5 seconds. It's much easier to trade if you just say "spot plus ten bucks" (or whatever the dollar figure is).

Oh, and congrats on your purchase :)

Hi,

OK got it. I had calculated it in both (%) and ($) per oz but was not sure. I also learned that with PAMP you pay a Premium however you calculate it. I might run some comparisons to other Minted Bars of similar/same size and see how much I was beaten up.

Do like the Fortuna though.

Hope when I am older and grayer, whoever I want or have to sell them too, will also pay the necessary Premium for PAMP but with Gold > $5K an oz and Silver > $500 an oz by then, I might not care.

Off topic ... how do you edit posts?

Thanks

Hey there laopa - you might find having an auto-calculating spreadsheet handy for this too - over time you can see where you paid high premiums (and may have been happy to do so); along with what your "stack" is worth.

You can also plug in current "for sale" prices and see what the premium (over spot) begin asked is - that way, you'll get used to quickly summing it up on-the-fly.

Watch all the sales threads here and try to get a sense of what sells - especially the ones that go fast with lots of "wow, great price" comments (and don't assume that when a seller says they sold something that was listed at a high price that it actually DID sell, or was sold at the displayed price.

Here's the link to the spreadsheet another member kindly made for us all to use (I use it, it's great):

Re: Editing - I believe there are some restrictions in your first 7 days and after that you'll only have 24 hours after a post in which to edit. After that you have to use the grey "Report" link (bottom right of a post) and ask for the thread to be unlocked for another 24 hours if you need to edit. As far as I am aware, this is to be used specifically for Sales threads.

GP may well correct me here (GP, this needs to be in FAQs - I couldn't see it there, or in "Rules" or in "Membership"?)

Hi,

Thanks for all the feedback. Tried to get the "spreadsheet" but none of my browsers would let me download/obtain it? Sent a PM to "haveblue" and maybe we can sort it out.

Only other way is to grunt out my own but it would never have the look of the freebie "haveblue" created, let alone all the functions.

On the editing front thanks for that too, I can look enough of a goose as it is without typos and other boo boos.

Thanks again.

Thanks for the plug! :) how's it been working? I haven't really looked at it since releasing V3.1 into the wild!

Hi,

Shoulda, woulda, coulda. Today would have been a better day to buy.

You always say that!

As they have not delivered "the precious" yet and I may have inadvertently sent my money to places Caribbean, unknown and untraceable, I will reserve making a potential further fool of myself by not naming them and singing their praises until I have the goodies in my chubby little paws.

They are a Forum sponsor and I found no Negative Reviews anywhere on the Net but I am Web Purchase Paranoid.

My vote is in for them being, sterling, upright, true blue, jolly good fellows, honest as the day is long, more helpful than Mother Teresa, etc. etc. but I have lost elections before.

So we wait, a little in trepidation.

If they are a forum sponsor then there really shouldn't be any issues - if there were, it would have been sorted out with this lot long ago believe me, this is not a forum that suffers fools or fraudsters!

I remember what it was like waiting for "the first delivery" ... fun times!

(You are right, today gold is tanking ... bet the central banks around the world are buying! :P )
