First time for me, 1oz round does a Houdini. After reading above post, guessing this hasn't made it through the 5mm slot for letters. Was in an open ended paper sleeve, inside envelope.

Wow that's really bad packaging. Everybody knows the coin in capsule is around 5 mm already so it should have gone into a 20 mm thick bubble padded envelope which would have only cost an extra $1.20 for stamps and about .30c for the bubble padded envelope . Wrap the coin in some foam and place between stapled cardboard which is envelope size not only would the coin be safe from scratches and drops there is virtually no chance of it falling out of the envelope. Sorry to hear about your loss.

Hi Stackers,

It is sad to see how some items are just thrown in a package that is flimsy and doesn't reach its destination, or is damaged.

Rather than concentrate on the negativity of poorly packaged items, why not run a Monthly Competition for the
best packaged items? The Buyer could enter pics of the unboxing of the item they purchased.

It also encourages Sellers to lift their game and is a bit of fun at the same time.

This is not about packaging exactly, but TAKE PHOTOS of your package before you send.

I recently had an incident with Auspost where there was an attempted delivery to the recipient, but the package was sent back to the delivery centre because the "address number was incorrect." At the time, I couldn't find the photo that I had taken, which clearly showed the correct number.

After the recipient and I mucked around with Auspost on the phone for about 2-3 weeks, the recipient was able to collect the package from the central delivery centre. Auspost had put a label over the address number to cover up their mistake. The recipient was able to peel off the label with difficulty to reveal the correct number, no questions about it! They had put on their system that I had used another number, but it was just a big lie.

The package was also quite banged up, but I had packed it well inside to protect the PMs.

Dodgy Australia Post.

Take pics!

Hi all,
A quick question on foil tapes for overseas parcels…are these a NO-NO, cause X-RAY can penetrate the foil thus custom will open your package? I hv had several opens and (luckily) custom personnels were honest at that time….

if custom can’t see what’s in the package, they will open…I know that…but foil-tapes any good? Interstate is fine…I th8nk

The requirement for overseas i.e International , I won't be bother sending them off. too much bs and paperworks.
Had one parcel from .... the parcel was opened up and and and kept in the holding bay for a month before they released it.
So international whether buy or sell , better to avoid it. Generally, waste of time.

Why not use just a proper tariff code?

Does everyone ignore the fact that AusPost prohibit sending of bullion?
Which means no extras cover possible for loss?

Thread discussing pros and cons a thought many have had before you. Personally i've bought from dealers in past and used couriers and Aus post is solid and reliable, especially when safety and security of pacakges also depends on driver...1st one i got years ago just stuck 1000s worth of PMs in my door and i wasnt home so not to happy. Insurance isnt a worry after posted and received 100s of items and among all of us here many, many times. Im a stacker personally i dont like being "prohibited" from doing things or following stupid rules, pack and post not an issue, forum based on trust and it works why would any "insurance" for bullion be any easier to access then for other things

Others Logistics company can do it without question ask.
FedEx , TNT and others can be use too.

@Real $ Return , It been many years people here been told Not to use home address.
Generally Rules of Thumb, Use work address, P O Box , Parcel Mail Box are recommended. "Never need to leave the parcel unattended." , otherwise pay extra SOD.
Never use home address.
