Out of control

It was a while back so I don'thave a link, but I read a study that women find men who use cash more attractive. It basically said when guys have cash it gives the impression they are more wealthy because you see the money instead of a what is or isn't in a bank account. This image of wealth suggests that the man can better care for the woman than a guy with a debit card. It sounds kind of sexist I know but hey I'll run with it :)

pull out a few ounces of silver and an ounce of gold and she'll be putty in your hands.

The way to beat the system is to play their game. At the start of an income injection, I pay all bills, rent, electricity, credit card etc. I then totally empty my account and fill my wallet with $100 bills. I try to maintain $2,000 as emergency cash and spend the rest on silver, regardless of spot. My incidental spends, food, petrol, chemist etc. are made on credit card. Anything that I'm not prepared to have show up on the grid, brothel, bookie, PMs etc are always cash. If there is ever a bank holiday, as happened in Cyprus, I will be holding cash and have a zero savings balance and a negative credit card balance. My emergency, emergency cash is about $300 of poppy and coronation $2 coins.

I like that idea.

If there is an emergency and you really have to spend it then they are good for $2. If there is no emergency then there is a good chance they will go up in price and make a handy profit.

I suppose it is all down to how much you can get them for in the first place.

I have about $100 in 50 cent coins, the Rams, Tall Ships, Captain Cooks and Varieties, all from circulation so they are not going to command high prices but they all could go for more than face value if I thought about selling them.

My only problem would be if there is an emergency in 20 years time, the buying power of my 50 cents would only be about what 25 cents can get me now.

My roll of 2014 Mob of Roos cost me $1.50 per coin, maybe they will be worth a lot more in the future, but if I have an emergency in 20 years time then not only will I lose 33% of what they cost me but an additional 50% of the remaining through inflation, so setting them aside now will only get me 33% of the buying power in an emergency in the future.

Inflation is the main reason I don't want to be storing fiat outside of the banking system, the banking system is the main reason why I don't want to be storing money in the banking system.

Difficult to know what to do.

Let me hold it for you.

Seriously though, the $2 coins are an immediate contingency; in twenty years time there should be another backup to your fiat backup.

As to fiat in the bank, only keep enough to pay your bills. I'm separated so exist alone so only need to live month to month, but fiat in the bank can be stretched by an extra month or two depending on your situation.

As to fiat outside of the bank, $2,000 cash is enough for me, but again I'm single. I choose to buy silver plus have a couple of month's food in the pantry. My big money is in the family home and now silver.

I might appear over cautious, but I have Cypriot heritage and know first hand the risks of a bank going under.

No job yet waiting to get in contact with someone I know at end of month.

I posted the link because I thought it was something we all need to see and we move towards a cashless society.

The army that sees the rainbow as air pollution I think.
Some decades ago it might have referenced the Mars garrison.

Did you ever do something naughty at school and have a teacher give you detention where you had to pick up litter in the playground?

The Green Army is like that.

This has been around for years. Over a decade and I'm sure I only found out about it a decade ago and it's been running for way longer.
