I've posted all this info on another forum, but thought it'd be helpful to post here as well.

Just heard back from the New Zealand Mint on the questions regarding the Magic The Gathering series.

#1 pertains to a dealer brochure received from the NZ Mint which states mintage as being 3,000 for the coin.

1) The 3,000 mintage number was the initial proposal NZ Mint set out for Hasbro, which countered with 5,000 because they are also selling these coins in retail Magic The Gathering stores. As a result, even the 5,000 mintage is extremely limited to direct distributors. The majority of the low 5,000 mintage is going to retail stores, so dealers like myself will have a much smaller pool. I've already got my order in so my stock is guaranteed.

2) This coin is currently expected to be a series, but Hasbro would like to see how well it goes before making it official, and provide details of how many, etc.


The release date for the coin was originally March 2014, which has now been pushed back to April 2014.


MSRP/RRP for the coin is $119 USD

Funniest thing is when Canada tried to stop David Icke from entering their fair land on the basis he was a racist. The argument was that when he said "reptiles" were posing as humans he was really referring to Jews. Nope, Jews had nothing to do with his theories.


All jokes aside. He has some very pertinent points to make. Don't throw out the Baby with the bath water
