NZ Mint new release coming up - T. E. Lawrence, or 'Lawrence of Arabia

As a dealer for the NZ Mint - I received information on this coin a while back, unfortunately I am not a fan of the design, and was thinking as Lostwords mentioned - why is there a need for this ?
 
Gotta say one thing about NZM---they do keep on trying. They may not hit a home run with every swing, but they do keep on trying.
I don't personally care for a fair amount of what they put out, but I think they do deserve credit for effort and perseverance.

And... they keep on plugging without falling into all that cheap "debt, death, hate the warmongering fatcat govt" attitude crap that's
all the rage these days. I think they also deserve credit for staying traditional and not cashing in on the current flood tide of popular
anti-establishment sentiment. It demonstrates integrity and self-determination not being shown by some others in the PM game.
 
Must admit, that's really not an attractive coin and it's of a subject that doesn't hold enough popular interest to balance that out. Like others, I do wonder what they're thinking sometimes. Plus, Sopwith Camel? I'd have thought he would be more remembered for the four-legged kind...

Well, it's the 125th anniversary of his birth. He's a famous historical figure, popularised further by a critically acclaimed movie...that's a lot more cause than a LOT of other coins that get released ;)

Of all the NZ Mint stuff this is probably the LEAST gimmicky haha

But in saying that the design itself doesn't work for me
