Hello all,
just the 'pest again';)

Just for a moment, imagine that numismatics didn't really exist ?
What silver coins would you stack?
Also...why?

I know, im really picking your brains, but..hey ho im a newbie..play nice:P
I am looking at stacking very shortly but tbh i have no interest or understanding of numismatics
so on a personal level i would be looking at stacking based purely on the silver,

I was thinking just ounce coins but having read a number of threads on this forum it has led me to
rethink this, and go for any silver coin, because im only in it for the silver..

What do you people think?

Many thanks

If you are not interested in numismatics why do you want to buy silver coins? If you are only interested in silver you should be stacking 1 kilo bars and not bothering with the coins at all.

I buy "blobs" as some call them and also numismatic stuff. Have a nice NGC graded Washington Quarter set and working on NGC graded Barber Quarter set. Collect what interests you and don't worry about what others think or say. It's your money...

If you are one who believes in the near term global currency collapse/SHTF/end of times scenario and concurrently you also believe that physical silver will be an indispensable commodity, then buy anything made of silver that you can get at a good price on. Anything that has a premium, even the lowest cost blobs, is a cost that you don't want to necessarily incur if you are preparing for a world in total chaos.

That's what I would do if I were still a believer in that scenario...but I am not. The world will carry on with its normal geopolitical alliances, posturing, and possibly small to medium size military conflicts and all that as it has for the past hundred or so years but no unprecedented, world-changing upheavals are going to happen for generations to come. I'm convinced of that today.

Just buy silver bars, there seems to be quite a premium on nice looking silver bars of all sizes from private sellers so it seems you dont need coins for a good resale.

I just bought mt first silver bar at a big premium. a I gram bar at $8.50 AU inc posted lol:D

I believe you're mildly confused. True numismatics do not follow the price of metal. Bullion coins do follow the price of metal, there are some items that are more desirable and command a higher premium over spot. The same could be said of bullion bars, some are more desirable and collected, so they command a higher premium. Like everything else in the world, there are exceptions...

In the absence of good knowledge i thought the resale would be easier on coins?

So bars is it then.

Hey coppernut, Kodak may still have a couple of 10,000 oz silver ingots remaining in their warehouse....I'd bet the premiums on these bars are close to zero. :)
