No deals when spot is low...

It's funny I woke up this morning saw that spot was below 16usd, so I look around to the usual suspects and low and behold every 10 oz bar I can find is more expensive than the few deals I got at around 17. It seems even when and if we go real low in spot, we may not not even be saving anything lol.

Did you miss the 1oz valcambi gold bars at spot ?

Plenty of deals around. Just have to look hard for them.

Nice try APMEX! You almost derailed my ASE Monster Box aspirations with this one. I will stand strong and avoid temptation, T-45 days and counting...

Yeah, seems like when when spot prices drop premiums go up and what you pay remains the same. Although, SD has ASE's at $2.25 over spot right now.

The price of a box of ASE's on APMEX just dropped by $40US...

This was my first gold purchase Was saving for a new laptop but bought my first ounce instead
At this price level I probably would have bought the laptop right now

I just went to LCS and I usually buy old 1 oz bars from his junk box for 1 dollar over spot. Today they are 2 dollars over spot

And tomorrow it might be $3, it's called inflation. Dealers have to eat too. I don't mind price rises as long as they are justifiable

I first started buying in 2012 and have seen quite a few decent jumps and drops. I'd see SOME dealers increase premiums for a short period but they'd come down. That's just how it's seemed to me from what I have seen.

Also, on a side note, I don't believe dealers can look at premium as a percentage over spot, I think they'd have to look at it as a dollar figure over spot to make their business work(again from 'my perspective') so that'd create a percentage fluctuation of the premium (ie $1 is 10% of $10 but 5% of $20).

As for promotion using part of a premium, it shouldn't be affected by a change in spot for a properly hedged dealer. Am I right here?? Not sure
