If the consumer wasn't there the farmer, miller, and baker wouldn't get paid, and therefore wouldn't have the capacity to employ others.

Show us a market where a consumer does not exist.

Show us a market where a consumer does not exist.

That depends on how you define market and consumer.

That's fine, as long as you include artificial markets. E.g. many farm subsidies are paid to farmers for them to not produce, or to produce additional. Is that really a market, who is the consumer?

What Creates Wealth?

Why are some countries rich and some countries poor? Is it access to natural resources? Is it tax policy? A motivated work force? These are important, but not determinative. The problem with TED talks these days is any clown is allowed up to spruik an untested theory with nothing to back it up. Bill Clinton, Kevin Rudd etc

In the early days, presenters had to pass muster with peer review and produce evidence of proven outcomes.

TED's been hijacked by the worst of our society

I like onion talks better. They're more entertaining.

So the focus should be on creating wealth?
If you care about alleviating poverty and improving the human condition, yes.

Yes.

People under tyrants such as Joseph Stalin and Mao Zedong had 'jobs'. It didn't improve their conditions. In NAZI Germany people had 'jobs' too.
