NGC MS68 vs MS69 pricing.

What's your general rule for this? I know some of the older pandas around early 1990's the price difference is usually double. Is that a fair price? I usually try to buy the best coin that I can afford but its hard to pass up say an ms68 for 150 while an ms69 is like 280.
I could almost get 2 ms68 for the price of 1 69. Is it cause the older ones are so hard to grade well??

Generally I know an ms69 to an ms70 is usually at least double. And I'm totally fine with that.

Imho ms68 coins are way undervalued many times the ms68 is just as nice as the 69, as older coins become scarcer as more people enter the MCC market it is likely that ms 68 become the new ms 69

Depends what it is. Rarer coins I would say 1.5x - 2x for MS69 over MS68 would be normal price and 70 would be crazy sky high prices.

More common coins such as 2000+ onwards I would not buy 68 unless really cheap (~ or < OMP prices)

Well the market seems to believe it's fair. You can simply compare the sale prices (actual sold) of a 68 and a 69 to get a rough estimate of what buyers are willing to pay.

Of course as jc and others will tell you it depends on the coin but you get the gist.

Not so much as harder to grade but rather harder to find it to grade I reckon.

You have what 6 million of the recent ones to send in so statistically you're going to get heaps of 70s compared to say a 1993 LD which may have a sub 100k mintage remaining (number may be wrong).
 
Nice. So from what I see both ms68 and ms69 are good investments.

I prefer 69 obviously but it will cost lots more to collect them all.

Yes there is some really nice 68s out there , people really seem to prefer the 69s but as mentioned 68s could become more sought after in the future as supply gets depleted on some of the more rare ones.
 
I got a 6 pack of ms69 first strike (i think they are high relief) and they are BEAUTIFUL
Think I would have a hard time telling the difference in a 70
Until the CC bill came in! hahahaaaaaaa
