This may in fact be the most sought after gold coin the US has produced in a very long time.

What are your thoughts? Any interest you have in purchasing this new item?

Sorry, my bad. You are right Stark. This was my first gold coin posting here ever and so out of habit I posted in the section I'm normally always at...silver coins.

In celebration of the 100th anniversary of the beloved American Buffalo design, the United States Mint will also be offering a reverse proof quality version of the gold coin later this year.
 
They announced they will launch it this August, on the 8th. There will be no mintage limit - which kind of made me think a bit... if they would be releasing a limited number, it would have a higher numismatic potential on the long term.

I guess if the mintage would have been limited to a certain number, it would have attracted more buyers... Perhaps they will stop making them after a while.

I'm surprised why a special coin has no limited number (for now, at least).
 
Actually, the coin is not available for sale yet...few more hours to go. As for the look, the image provided is not a photograph so it's not exactly what the coin actually looks like. If I buy one I will take a photo and post it here. Just as with any gold proof coin, you pay a hefty premium....there's nothing unusual about that.

As for limited mintage, none but they are limiting the amount of time the item is on sale.

Since there's been quite a noise amongst collectors about this coin, likely a lot will be minted to meet the demand possibly driving down the long term value.
 
Well, This piece like the regular 1 ounce proof gold buffalo will as well go according to the price grid on the US Mint site. If people do have this coin graded, Which( imo) 99% plus will do, The price should (imo) go higher.
I think this coin (imo) should be a winner. Good luck to the folks here that pick up some. :)

The total graded went up just 174 if you compare the total for 520050 to last weeks total. FS totals went up just 34. non-FS increased 140. My prediction that by October 20th almost all first strike rush coins to be graded and reported appears to be coming true. Next week I will make a final post of the population report. I speculate new FS numbers will be under 20.
The percentages continue the trend from last week with FS 70/69 at 66%/33%, non-FS 70/69 at 39%/60%.
