Hi everyone. I've been lurking a while, some interesting/handy info floating about.

I live in Perth, great place to be for stacking what with the Perth Mint just a hop skip and jump away.

Bought my first kilo of silver a few weeks ago at 1279.21, and was told it would be ~1-2 months before I could collect. OK
Bought another today at 1327.43 and now I'm told 3 months. :|

Seems like they're selling them faster than they're making them, a sign of supply drying up or a surge in demand? It suits me fine as it solves my storage issues for now, but it makes me wonder; how long do they consider too long before they stop selling altogether?

I would think a 3 - 6 month lead time would be very risky for them. A boatlaod can happen in that time, esp these days. I'm expecting a bit of a jump in Spot before I get my Kilos, but that "bit" could be a giant leap, who knows...

Ho hum, I'm in it for the LONG haul, so as long as they arrive and the Mint doesn't assplode, I'm a happy camper.

Oh, I also have some Scottsdale stuff; 10x1oz bars, 1x5oz Prey and 1x10oz Stacker. So pretty, though bought a little impulsively (ebay :P) I will def get more Scottsdale stuff, but be a little more judicious about what I pay from now on.. Too eager!

From now on it'll be forum, Perth Mint and Bullion Club buys for me I reckon. Ebay seems a little.. sketchy for silver. BullionClub has a few things that I would very much like to have and prices quite fairly (Scottsdale Omnias are in my sights next; 20 for ~920 today, waiting for a bit more of a dip, hoping for <900 or better).

Long time between post octapotamus (love the conchords )
don't forget to 'git some' gold...even a little bit (catch the fever) :)

dip your toe into the water with some of the various forms available on the site here when they come up and you'll soon get a feel for what suits you best. Everyone is different, and first and foremost, this whole PM game is about feeling secure.

Wise words Clawhammer.

I reckon you should buy anything you can afford, when you can afford it.Pms are on the move :)

As long as your kids are taken care of (if you have them)Your arse is covered (Literally and figuratively)

Don't just dip your toes ,dive in here an enjoy the smorgasboard

Don't seem to have any problems finding kilo Perth Mint coins in Europe.
I've got a few fairly recently and would like to stack more but Ag price it OTT in my humble opinion right now.
Also got a kilo Mexican Libertad - that's a pretty looking thing.

Hi Octapotamus,

Were these PM kilo coins or kilo bars that were in short supply?

Just wonderin' :)

thanks for the replies guys, I really appreciate your PsOV.

I was thinking of getting some gold but you just get so LITTLE for the currency (see what I did there? bless Maloney's cotton socks), and the GSR is quite wide right now.

I was considering leapfrogging some AG into AU when the GSR closes a bit more, and by then I will have a lot more AG and it's value will have appreciated considerably (assuming fundamentals actually mean anything in this twisted world).. valid tactic?

No children here and my SO is career-driven atm with none on the immediate horizon, so looking to have a rapidly growing shiny family of lumps of metal, that of course will periodically be lost in distressing boating accidents (just like Bobby, poor Don).

Kilos I have ordered are bars. Kilo Kooks were in stock. The Kilo coins aren't that much dearer than the bars, so I'll probably grab one when I have the spare cash. Ideally a Kilo Rabbit and/or Tiger :D They sure are pretty..

Today they had in Ag: 10oz bars, 20oz bars, 1oz kooks and 1kg kooks. Didn't check Au..

Again, thanks for the welcomes and tips!

hey octopustotumous

Don't view gold as "so LITTLE for the currency", yes it is small but it's infinitely more valuable. It's actualy worth something, just like timber, bricks, fuel and red cabbage. But it's worth way more so "git" some. NOW!!!!!

:)

I'm actually making a pie right now and it has red cabbage in it, bizarre. A sign perhaps? It has kangaroo too..

OK fine, I'll get some gold then! Jeez.. :P Cheers for the prod.

It won't be much but it will be a start.

Many of us view the GSR quite narrow at the moment... it's only ~43. Plenty of us remember GSRs in the 60s and 70s.

haha!! great picture! a friend of mine tried to draw an Octopotamus once, he fell asleep doing it. From this I conclude it is quite hazardous, or perhaps it was the beer.

so, for either braving the narcolepsy or for not being pass-out drunk:

I thank you! toot toot :/

Hi Guys

Also new to posting but just wanted to say that i have just come back from the Perth Mint and they told me that a new shipment of 1kg Silver bars had just arrived.

Unfortunately i wasnt able to get any due to backorders having to be filled first. So looks like your bar order will be filled shortly :) . Was told to try next week to see if any were left .

On another note no 20 oz bars were for sale , no stock and no more being made :(

Cheers and good luck

i'd hazard a guess that in the not too distant future gold will not be worth more than 10 times silver - probably less
