Hi guys,

I’m a vintage watch collector from Melbourne, Australia and looking to use some spare cash for buying gold/silver without getting torn a new as*hole in premiums and fees. I’ve been doing my research and toying with the idea for 12-18 months and ready to start buying.
But before I make the plunge it would be great to get some advice so I don’t make any amateur mistakes.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Welcome along.
Any questions, just throw them out there and they will be answered.
Thanks for the welcome. Anything I should be careful of looking at the sales thread on here? Any fraudelent activity occur? I ask because it can happen in Watches and we do our due diligence to avoid.

Unfortunately yes there is on occasion. And to be honest it is to be expected with what we are dealing with. Having said that, it is on a rare occasion and these are not regular long standing members members so you can generally get a feeling from new members what they are up to but some people have been caught out.
Each person will have feedback on their profile with all their trades that have done.
Starting off you should look for this and only deal with high feedback rated members. It is a good piece of mind and most people here are very decent people.
Being new you will be asked to pay first which is the norm. Also if you wish to sell items you may be asked to send first before payment. The trust goes both ways. Some people have an issue with this unwritten rule but it is entirely up to you.
I would advise to get in contact with local stackers and arrange a F2F to purchase the items. You can test the items and have a good chat and get to know local stackers and get pointers and build contacts. This is something I wish there was more of in WA.
