New to silver/forum

For 1oz bars, forget it, just get the cheapest silver you can.
10oz bars are the most popular size though, so if possible it's worth saving up for those.
For 1oz I think coins are a better bet. The Perth Mints ones come in nice capsules.

try the app, actually it works remarkably well. The app is listening to several frequencies a coin makes not just one frequency. This app is virtually an audio spectrum analyzer with pre-programmed frequency expectations different coins are to produce when gently struck. A fake coin made of material other than silver, having the same dimension that the original coin is going to make definitely a different sound when pinged. If only one frequency that the app expects to 'hear' is slightly different, the coin failed this test and is therefore highly likely a fake.

A scale, caliper and this app serves me very well.

Ha yea I made that mistake lol, spend a 1/4 of my yearly salary in a month somehow...
