I came across these 2 new coins while looking at the new coins section and I found this the most fascinating of the type.
Yes, there are a number of meteorite coins that have been issued over the past few years, but as far as I know, this is the first with a piece of meteorite from the mysterious "Red Planet" Mars.
There are a few interesting features of the coin and I was wondering if the meteorite piece is real. I saw that it comes with a separate COA for the meteorite. The history of this particular meteorite can be found here: http://www.lpi.usra.edu/meteor/metbull.php?code=54565
I found the Queens' side of the 1 oz coin to be kind of cool with all that relief texture......I don't know why they didn't keep that design feature on the kilo coin.
I contacted FCC and out of curiosity asked them about pricing on the kilo coin as a favor for a friend who is currently out of the country but has a few meteorite coins in her collection. I was told that if anyone was interested in it, that they can send a best offer to FCC and FCC will do their best to match that offer.
