New Melbourne Mint website

Hi guys, not sure where to post this, so hopefully here is OK...

Some of you will have picked up that I work at Melbourne Mint and have posted here just a little since the start of the year - since I returned from Berlin WMF actually.

Well, as part of my role, we have a new website - it is mostly silver coins so it kinda fits in here. The address is:
www melbournemintcoins.com.au

It is, currently, a soft launch. Because there is always bugs on a new site. Feel free to go and have a look around... you might find something you like! Who knows.

More importantly, I have a belief that nobody finds website bugs better than the users... (hopefully that is some of you!). So if you do check it out and you find problems - please let me know here. I would certainly appreciate the heads up!

Of course, Mods... please put this in the right place if it belongs elsewhere...
 
United Kingdom and United States initially. Plus of course NZ.

But certainly plan to get other countries on board. The world is so small these days!

You have no coins on the site, you do produce a round @ $30.50/ea (spot@$21.25) though, but it isn't called a coin as we all typical know.

The term coin as far as I know refers to a government issued legal tender "coin" with a face value whilst a "round" or "medallion" like the ones you are producing. Although I am not sure what the legislation on calling your product a "coin" is but I do know anything with "Australia" and referred to as a "coin" may be something to consider as governments can take that kind of thing very seriously. As we have seen in a few cases.

Also you have 1 round silver produce and 1 bar on the site for a total of 2 types of silver items vs. the 10 types of gold products. I couldn't find the "mostly silver coins" you were referring to. Where are they all? Do you have a link?

Yes. That is our bullion site. And you are quite right - they are not coins.

I suspect that site might be my next project...!
 
I have visited the Melbourne Mint a couple of times. It easily has the most sophisticated private showroom I have ever seen.

I also have the first Melbourne Mint silver round minted.

Is MM just a coin and bullion dealer now, or do you still mint you own stuff?
 
Hi SilverPete, no longer an active mint unfortunately. I wish! As SammySilver says though, we are in the Mint building. And as a coinie now... its an amazing place to be!

We are looking at creating our own coins tho. Probably in conjunctikn with some of the guys i see discussed here on silverstackers.

It would be awesome if you could do limited run private minting without being as expensive as Perth Mint.
 
I kind of like the kookaburra+ingot set.Is the 1oz kook can be removed from the ingot? Price turns me down though...
 
Happy to report that your website and online purchasing system appear to be working well. I didn't have an issue when purchasing PM Goddesses of Olympus - Hera, earlier (and at their original listing price, no less :cool:)

Will you be offering a local pick-up option in the near future?
 
Looks great but having a few problems with bugs also cant change my address to Queensland

Also is the stock available ?

Nice looking site, just a few suggestions.
1. Shouldn't be charging GST to international customers.
2. The page where you enter a default address doesn't scroll, so people in the US that live in a state alphabetically after Colorado cannot select it. (at least that was the last one that showed up on my laptop)
3. I tried placing an order that didn't qualify for free shipping and kept getting a message like no valid shipping method. Then got over $300 for free shipping and it went right through.
