I like copper for a bit of fun, but is this getting a bit ridiculous? Geiger now have a "Security Line Series" of copper bars (pics and description from Apmex page)

There are others sizes too. Geiger's site lists a 5kg bar, which honestly would be pretty cool to have:

The 5 kg copper bar from the edition Schloss Gldengossa is a unique product from GEIGER Edelmetalle. In addition to the traditional investment metals, copper is increasingly interesting. Unlike gold, the metal copper has a real consumption. The demand of copper is constantly rising worldwide. The reason is that more and more copper cable is used. Copper is also installed in modern technologies such as electric and hybrid vehicles. The increasing demand and rising costs for recycling of the metal show clearly that copper has a great potential as an investment metal. That's why we offer as one of the first dealers in Germany also copper bars in a practical form for investment. The bars have a fineness of 999/1000 and are separately foil sealed to protect them from tarnishing.

Interesting that they quote the 500 grams as Troy ounces and not standard ounces. Copper is sold in standard ounces and pounds.

It's good that they have good security on them, I would hate to buy a copper bar and find out later it was filled with tungsten, oh wait! tungsten is 5.5x more expensive than copper.

I was trying to find more info on these and discovered that Apmex had initially requested they be placed in an ornamental category for import tariffs:

RE:The tariff classification of copper bars from Germany

...In your letter dated January 28, 2015, you requested a ruling on the tariff classification of copper bars. You indicated that photographs provided by Geiger Edelmetalle have been submitted for our review.

The merchandise under consideration is identified as the Geiger (Security Line Series) 500 gram Copper Bar. You stated in your letter that the "The bar is manufactured in Germany from 99.9% copper." The subject bar has a rectangular shape with rounded edges. One side of the bar features the name "GEIGER EDELMETALLE" in the top portion and the words "FEINKUPPER 999" underneath. The depiction of the Head Office Schloss Guldengossa followed by the weight of the bar "500g" are located beneath the words "FEINKUPFER 999". The reverse side of the bar in question is plain.

You proposed classification for the Geiger (Security Line Series) 500 gram Copper Bar in subheading 8306.29.0000, Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States (HTSUS), which provides for statuettes and other ornaments of base metal, and parts thereof, other. However, the copper bars are not ornamental. See Headquarters Ruling 965187 dated May 29, 2002, in which gold bars were found to bear no demonstrated similarities to the goods of heading 7114, HTSUS, which provides for goldsmiths' or silversmiths' wares. Accordingly, the copper bars are not ornaments of heading 8306. HTSUS. Therefore, the subject bars are classifiable as articles of their constituent material (copper) under heading 7419, HTSUS, which provides for other articles of copper.

The applicable subheading for the Geiger (Security Line Series) 500 gram Copper Bar will be 7419.99.5050, HTSUS, which provides for other articles of copper, otherother. The rate of duty will be free.

Duty rates are provided for your convenience and are subject to change. The text of the most recent HTSUS and the accompanying duty rates are provided on World Wide Web at http://www.usitc.gov/tata/hts/.

This ruling is being issued under the provisions of Part 177 of the Customs Regulations (19 C.F.R. 177).

Honestly I laughed when I saw this and ridiculous is an understatement. The absurdity of the whole thing and the unbelievable price!

It's a good looking thing if polished however it does detract from their brand and reputation to deal in copper. Imagine a competitor like pamp producing a similar product?

It's overpriced "pretend" bullion for people who wish to fantasize.

Here's another 500g copper ingot I saw on eBay (its not Geiger). I quite like this one:

I think Apmex was right when they initially thought this was an ornamental product. It's a paperweight.
