New 2oz Scottsdale round

There are a few of these up on eBay now. Scottsdale says general availability with be on next Friday.

Serialized with COA? Those are going to fetch a pretty penny.

Already out-bid 3 times within the first half-hour.

Also looks like somebody in Canada's got the inside hook-up..

eBay prices for the "normal" ones should die down once the initial hoopla is over. Scottsdales are always like that.

5oz are about to hit the market as well.

I'm holding out for the kilo. ;)

Happy to see they look good in the photos. Though I do notice some small scratches.

The backsides are interesting (photos at Canada eBay listing).

Definitely picking some up at the right price at some point.

Apparently I can order them (non-serialized) from Australia & Canada earlier than I can from within the US.

Of course, that whole shipping thing...

Premiums are about what I expected.

Serial #499 of 499 is closing in on $300 USD apiece.

With over 1.5 days left of bidding.

Low-premium stackers' heads must be exploding.

So should I keep bidding? How high should I go..?

Kidding. :D

I dropped out a loooong time ago.

Poor moron who wins those auctions :/
*preordering on PB for extortionate eBay sale*

Believe me, I get the attraction & all that. And I was even one of the early low bidders, knowing full well that I wasn't going to nab them.

But those #499's are getting a little nutty, to say the least. Guessing these could crack $400 apiece.

One could buy a pretty sweet slabbed old coin or two with that kind of scratch. And probably appreciate & enjoy 'em a heck of a lot more, too.

I dunno, maybe I don't truly get it. Different strokes, and all that.

Anyway, curious to see next what the 5-oz #499 will fetch. Assuming Scottsdale will throw it up sometime after these are over.

so where are the other 498 ?

Good question. Been wondering about that, myself.

Are there a few allocated to Scottsdale employees/owners?

And is Scottsdale distributing any small batches to other dealers worldwide, which will be available at the retail level at a certain point? Or are they hoarding them all -- for eBay (US only), and/or their main site (which ships worldwide) ?

Assuming they'll be doing the same for the 5-oz, there will be 3 x 499 = 1,497 of 'em.

Granted, they typically have anywhere between 150 - 225 eBay listings per day, but that's still a lot of auctions for a First Release, and they would only be available in the US.

I can't imagine they'd shut out the rest of the world, though. If they do, that's stupid.

I'm sure they'll be pricey & hard to get, so I'm more than happy with the "normal" ones.

Thats just a common laser etching, with common fonts...could be reproduced on the regular rounds extremely easily.

Suckers will buy anything won't they.... :P
