New 2015 $2 coin being released this monday, red colored coin ????

Hi,

Just listening to the radio and heard a MP say that they are releaseing a new $2 coin this monday into circulation about 1.5 m mintage with red coloring and printed cross's on it? Anyone know more about it? And where can you get some from before they all disappear?

The entire coin is red? This is interesting, I hadn't heard anything at all about it!

If Anyone is going to Malvern gardens for the release, has access to heaps and If taking orders i'd be interested in getting 20 or so.

Malvern Gardens ? I've never heard of it
 
From what Kelly O'Dwyer, Parliamentary Secretary to the Treasurer said in the interview, the design consists of a number of cross's. So I'm assuming it not the standard design. The red one posted on 3aw's website (below) is just a artists impression of what it may look like. mentions that you can buy this coin, but not how much nor how many via the release on Sunday.

l'm surprised that no-one new about this release, you guys are usually on top of this stuff with Unc. coin's or mint rolls on offer before the general public. Lets hope someone has a few, any Mint rolls out there?

Yeah this coin must be the new $2 coin that was listed in the RAM Currency Determination a while back.

From the document:

A design consisting of:

(a) a central circle containing the inscription 'LEST WE FORGET' and a representation of a dot; and

(b) surrounding the central circle, the following:

(i) a series of red coloured stripes arranged in a repetitive circular pattern;

(ii) 2 concentric circles;

(iii) 5 stylised representations of crosses;

(iv) between the crosses, a representation of poppy flowers; and

(c) 'TWO DOLLARS'.

Every man and his dog will be hoarding this one. Even the people at work who have no interest in coins were talking about going to the bank to get some for the potential collector value.
 
Not available for purchase form the RAM. 2 million will be produced (according to RAM)

I have contacted the mint, still no official response from the mint. Waiting that is why I cannot say anything yet

I hope we can get some for everyone

General circulation yeah right!! Even the Armaguard blokes are smart enough to hoard the coloured $2 coins. Good luck with finding one. Might have to go to Malvern Gardens for the march to try and scrounge ONE coin.
 
yeah those of us without "connections" certainly do have a lot of trouble trying to nab any rolls of issues like this from the bank!

Otherwise I just hope one of my relatives goes through their change and gets lucky.
