New 2014 Proof Britannia is an absolute beauty

Stunning, as good as any proof coins from major mints. However their quality inspection can be a little dodgy; my 2013 5oz Britannia proof was returned 3 times before I got a perfect one... First 3 had milk spots/oil stains on them.

Still Royal Mint was a decent organization to deal with, my returns were honored promptly without questions asked and replacements were shipped quickly as well. Royal Mint refunded me fully on all return shipping and import fees and I was offered a decent discount on my next order.

What can I say? I am a happy returning customer this year! :)
 
Heard about a dealer brought in some proofs (include Britannia) and came with FREE milkspot. Like any reputable mint, Royal Mint honor refund/replacement including postage.
He refuses to bring in this year.

I've ordered 3 1oz proof last year and two of them have some dust inside the capsules :mad:

Debating to pick some up this year or not... My money are stuck with the duckling

I don't think I have ever received a single coin which didn't have at least a particle or two of dust inside. I just don't think it's likely at all that any mint can assure no dust whatsoever inside a capsule. If dust is the worst I'd have to worry about with this lovely coin, I think I'll be quite fine with owning one.

I have yet to find dusts or milk spots in any if my RCM numis coin that comes with the capsules and boxes. If I buy numis coins and pay premium for it, I expect perfection else I buy bullion coins
 
Hi all,

This will be my first post on SS. Decided to join the forum because other members from rfd were discussing this coin and mentioned this site. I like to collect just about anything that appeals to me regardless of material content, but obviously I'd rather have .999 due to the tax break where I live. I love gold coins ( when I can afford them, which is rarely ) But I like silver just as much.

It's been a expensive month so I've been debating the purchase of the 5oz coin since I saw the link for it on the other forum. I probably should've just stuck with the 1oz but that 600 mintage was calling to me. The picture they have up makes me drool I just hope the in hand will do the same.

I'm all too familiar (as are a number of other members here) with over spending....I think it's just human nature to a large extent.

I am assuming that the Royal Mint will sooner rather than later be sold out of the 5 oz silver coin. Afterall, 600 Britannia's is actually quite a small minting for one of the world's most popular theme's on a coin by one of the world's largest and most prestigious mints.

I've 5 1oz Britannia proofs all perfect and I expect the same for the current 2014 proofs.

Unfortunately its already on its way to my son as an early birthday present.

I might order the 1oz proof for myself though depends on what I spend in the next month or so, I've been going rather mad on buying silver coins recently, infact the the last 2 years :lol:
 
hmm.. on my order page it looks like the 5-ouncer is still InProgress but 1-ouncer already start shipping. Royal Mint website shows 1-ouncer is ready stock no longer a pre-order item.
