my selling experience

I forgot to mention that I sold some ABC bullion bars last week. I bought the bullion bars from ABC Bullion about 18 years ago ( I still have the receipts) and 3 of them failed the XRF test in the same area on the bar. Trace amounts of iron were detected and only 98.5% silver in a small section on top of the bar.
I wasn't happy to find that out. They bought the bar regardless but at an 8% discount to spot.

ABC always seemed dodgy to me back in the days. Not sure what they are like today.

That’s crazy!
Were they serialised?
I would have taken this up further with ABC.
Was this a common and accepted thing back then? I wouldn’t know as I’ve only been stacking 5 years.

The problem is I live 1000km from Sydney so there was no sending back. When I initially received them in their little red pouch, I just put them away and never really considered that there would be an issue.
I sent an email with a photo to them over a week ago but am yet to get a response. The bars are not serialised so I doubt ABC will take responsibility. I was lucky that Bullion Now in Melbourne gave me spot minus 8% for them which is better than buyback with ABC bullion for good bars.
It is fortunate that I never on sold them on Ebay as it would have been embarrassing to sell a dodgy bar and set someone up.

Imaging this bar goes to current affair. The company will go caput. Rep damaged.
Someone will have to payout a large lumsum to cover theirs ass.
Here is why , there are Chief Assay in any company lab.
