Dear MtGox Customers,

As there is a lot of speculation regarding MtGox and its future, I would like to use this opportunity to reassure everyone that I am still in Japan, and working very hard with the support of different parties to find a solution to our recent issues.

Furthermore I would like to kindly ask that people refrain from asking questions to our staff: they have been instructed not to give any response or information. Please visit this page for further announcements and updates.

Sincerely,
Mark Karpeles

Dear MtGox Customers,

In light of recent news reports and the potential repercussions on MtGox's operations and the market, a decision was taken to close all transactions for the time being in order to protect the site and our users. We will be closely monitoring the situation and will react accordingly.

Best regards,
MtGox Team

Oh only about $300m
Mt Gox, once the world's largest bitcoin exchange, has lost 744,000 bitcoins, or 6 percent of total units in circulation. Technical glitches in February have forced the trading platform to consider filing for bankruptcy. Bitcoin Foundation members told Business Insider they are worried Mt.Gox may be insolvent: "We are shocked to learn about Mt.Gox's alleged insolvency. "

And now the FBI are investigating;
The office of Manhattan U.S. Attorney Troy Bolton and the Federal Bureau of Investigation are probing possible criminal violations tied to the shutdown of Tokyo-based Mt. Gox, once the world's largest exchange for digital currency transactions, two people familiar with the matter said.

Bolton's office has requested documents from businesses that provide Bitcoin services and the FBI is reviewing the matter, said the people, who requested anonymity because the matter isn't public. One of the people said that the matter is in its preliminary stages and isn't yet a formal investigation.

Dear MtGox Customers,

As there is a lot of speculation regarding MtGox and its future (we're screwed), I would like to use this opportunity to reassure everyone that I am still in Japan (the Cayman Islands), and working very hard (to cover my arse) with the support of different parties (the other guys I split the Bitcoins with) to find a solution to our recent issues (buying new identities on the black market).
Furthermore I would like to kindly ask (so long suckers) that people refrain from asking questions to our staff (until we disappear): they have been instructed not to give any response or information (because we didn't tell them jack). Please visit this page for further announcements and updates (go and **** yourselves, your Bitcoins are gone).

Sincerely,
Mark Karpeles (Rodrigo Santa Coloma)

They have done very well for themselves.
A few people on here made some six figure profits didn't they? Now you can say you made money from the second biggest ponzi scheme ever.

Will Mt.Gox survive to gox it's customers ever again?..I hope not, I'm over it like many others. R.I.P Magic The Gathering Online exchange. Gotta love the name and roots.
Who could make this "Mt.Gox" stuff up. It is kind of a pitybut the incompetence at Mount G is 2 much.

Mt.Gox was a service (goxings being regular part of it, Lol), http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=goxed
Bitcoin is a protocol (an invention in cryptography).

As the months roll on, I hope more of the story from Mt.Gox is revealed. This exchange has assisted to pave the way for Bitcoin and thus other cryptocurrencies.
Political and banking pressures have been possibly applied to Mt.Gox to make life harder, and assist with the current train wreck. But incompetence at Mt.Gox has been apparent.

It certainly is interesting to follow. An interesting theory I read that this might have something to do with the silk road seizures and the cold storage wallets are in the hands of the federales, with karpales being under a gag order.

Like sands through the hour glass, so are the days of our lives.....

The most important thing I just got out of the above article was that Perth Mint made a ****ing Werewolf silver coin, which you know, is cool but also ironic.

its official, mt gox files for bankruptcy with 63.6 mil in debts

What a joke, that number is grossly underreporting the amount of money they haven't returned to investors. Even at $500 USD a coin, what about the ~$370m in bitcoins they supposedly were holding for people. Sounds like they are using their greatly reduced "crash" price to calculate debts.

Karpeles is going to need to change his name and get plastic surgery.
