Movie: Looper (silver stackers) SPOILERS

I have watched half 3 times now, just after he falls backwards from the railing the second time. I think I know what's going on now. I am slow I guess.
Interesting about the co-produced situation & how it sidesteps certain govt regulations in China, even with nudity. Hollywood hypnotises the masses & China holding the reigns, wow. Wonder what that movie ends like?

I wonder if in China it's dubbed or subtitled?

Can you elaborate further? I'm always intrigued when people start commenting like that...

Oops, I meant to hit quote, but hit thank you.

Usually, in movies, the memes are "too many people on the planet" or "running out of resources" or "being human is bad, becoming an alien is good", I could go on and on, but that is not what this thread is about. In Looper, you have mental powers because of mutation, but in our world, you gain mental powers through "other entity assistance", which in Christian parlance is demonic possession (as soon as you get rid of the demon, the subject looses their powers). So Looper teaches you that if your child is possessed by a really powerful demon, you just need to give the child extra love until he can control the demon (verses getting rid of the thing and saving your child).

Sorry? Theres Daemons in this movie?

And there I was thinking the movie was just about time travel. Though, it does seem that you write this from a fairly strong Christian viewpoint... I admire your passion.

I'm not sure? Anybody got answer?

Seems it didn't do alswell as supposed in China, they mixed up the yuan conversion.

How different is the "Sino-centric" version released in China? It's 8 minutes less, missing scenes of drug use, sex scenes & ultra violence.

I saw this today. It looked to me like they cast Robert De Niro as the older looper and found a young double for him, and then ended up with Bruce Willis and just added a false nose.

If you believe the theory that the Illuminati run the universe and foreshadow the future in a strange rule that requires they inform us using popular culture, there's plenty to consider. A single man who controls the world's crime gangs (all five of them .... they don't mention GS, HSBC etc by name though) and gold and silver are convertible to currency at a 'retirement' rate for a gold bar. (I think it was a gold bar they threw on the ground at one stage).

I think I prefer the Doctor.

What about Die Hard 3 where there is a huge distraction is created and the crooks go for the gold?
Wall street two is interesting for the way that silver is used in props and then how it is portrayed at the end of the movie in Geko's London office.
JFK, the silver zippo.
Or generally a life giver, a lot of movies have silver water containers in them while gold is portrayed as something of frivalace value like jewellery.
The mood that I have picked up on latley is a genral sadness or a sence of loss.

I've got a silver round in the bottom of my water purifier to keep the water clean (inhibit algae, mould, etc)

Great quote btw, Frank Zappa was a rock star right? Wonder what year he said that?

Nice movie and even nicer bars.

Of course they were fake, when he was stacking them the sound was WRONG.

more like copper plated with silver bars, and about 50 pcs of kilo size ??

Yes Frank was a rock star here's one of his big hits.

I disagree with Zappa being a rock star.

Rock Stars don't have the work rate of Zappa...

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Frank_Zappa_discography

Yes, thats 61 albums - plus another 31 posthumously!

Rock Stars simply do not have that creative ability. Zappa is something else, someone who can transcend genres and styles. He is pretty much the alpha and omega of music.

A keyboardist in an old band of mine once made a vow to listen to one zappa album per day, and did every Zappa album recording in around 3 months. He has never been the same psychologically!!!! :D

One of my favourite nuggets of Zappa goodness - love the cheeky xylophone in it!

I am gross and perverted
I'm obsessed 'n deranged
I have existed for years
But very little has changed
I'm the tool of the Government
And industry too
For I am destined to rule
And regulate you

I may be vile and pernicious
But you can't look away
I make you think I'm delicious
With the stuff that I say
I'm the best you can get
Have you guessed me yet?
I'm the slime oozin' out
From your TV set

You will obey me while I lead you
And eat the garbage that I feed you
Until the day that we don't need you
Don't go for help . . . no one will heed you
Your mind is totally controlled
It has been stuffed into my mold
And you will do as you are told
Until the rights to you are sold

That's right, folks . . .
Don't touch that dial

Loved the movie and the silver staking was a bonus but did anyone think the guy living in the apartment below him (considering he was on the 3rd or 4th floor) would be kind of pissed at having a huge safe coming out of his ceiling??

Also all the talk of them using fake silver bars kind of pisses me off! I'm sure the movie had a pretty high budget and there was maybe between 100-1000 bars shown so why the hell didn't they just use real bars? It's not like they wouldn't have been able to sell them after! I can imagine they could charge an extra bit of a premium considering they were props in the movie! Oh well!
