More visitors than Members on site, day and night?

A few years back there was always more members than visitors on SS by a ratio of at least 2 to 1.

As I type there is now 16 members and 94 visitors. Yes I know it is past midnight EST but it is also happening during the day but not as marked. :)

Why is it so?

Well, guess more and more people are finding out about the site thru YouTube channel :p

The European/American shift is the graveyard shift. Plenty of lurkers around but not much contribution. It is amusing to watch GP float around with nothing to do at 3am

I dunno about the past here, but it seems to be pretty normal for any forum online to be made up of WAY more lurkers than registered, posting members. It takes a smidgen of effort to become a user and post, and it takes no effort to just lurk.

I can't tell you how many times I have read newbie members claim that they have been reading posts on the forum here for a long time before deciding to make their first post. For me, it was the other way around...I immediately became a member because I had plenty of questions and wanted to learn and dialogue with people who knew more than me.

So what's your excuse now then ?

If you lurked a bit beforehand you would have realised that they don't necessarily know more than you - they just express themselves as if they do.

And the hoards of postgrad bank and trading desk analyst interns looking for something to cut and paste because they were out drinking and need something to stick in a word document to look wise.

Don't forget the Kremlin and the CIA, they need love too.. If someone slipped LSD in the punchbowl we could re-enact Dr.Strangelove.

Lost putinbots showing up like furbies at car boot sales.

Confused and desperate day traders looking for clues that will help them pay off the margin loan on the cardboard boxes they sleep in.

I think it is the breath and depth of some exchanges cause them to return good google search results on many combinations of keywords.

Dr strangelove ^^^. i actually went to an address today in spendlove street & to my surprise there wasnt a brothel in sight

Errol its been like that for years i always used to notice the same thing

Well that sounds like a good thing. Prostitution is the lowest abasement of the human condition.

I stay off the fluoridation thread but it always reminds me of Dr. Strangelove (I honestly don't know if it is dangerous or not)

If you are just reading posts and haven't got any trades going then there's no point in logging on. I regularly come here and check out the forums but see no reason to log in. I reckon a lot of members also will just browse without logging in :)

Well you're missing the real estate forum - that's not visible to non-logged in users. Paid members also miss out on a few other members-only forums.
