More comedy from Macquarie Mint

Oh yes, the good old Ken Downie is feeling a bit generous and offering the first coin in the collection for only $59.95:D
You better hurry up people before they are all gone!
I do occasionally purchase some items from Ken's Australian Coin Auctions, but I stay well clear of his retail shop and other
business ventures, as he charges like a wounded bull with these.:(
 
So much to like here:

  • A massive $40 discount, allowing you to secure a high-quality collectable one-ounce silver coin for only $59 instead of the normal $99.
  • The special 'f15' privymark, designating your holdings as unique.
  • A custom-made case, so you can fill the waiting empty spaces over the coming months.
  • A Certificate of Authenticity, so you can have confidence in your collectible coin from the Perth Mint.
  • A limited edition silver watch. I suggest purchasers wear this with pride at future silver stacker meetings.
Note to self - my old silver shield stuff doesn't seem so bad after all ;)
 
Reminds me of the De Agostini collections you can buy at the newsagents, they always have the first one cheaper with a throw-in low-value item like a binder or something similar, then you pay full price and keep buying them until the newsagent decides they are not worth getting in and you end up with half of Nelson's Flagship.

Actually Ken Downie is quite a shrewd businessman in the way he markets his Macquarie Mint products
It is very much marketed at older not the sharpest tools in the shed people who have more money than sense.
And after a few years when the purchases become boring and the owners wish to sell, Ken is there to help them
part with their cash again.
He owns and runs an auction company where a lot of these Macquarie mint are then resold again.
At about 75% less than what the issue price originally was for the hapless owners.
And on top of that he charges another 15% or more in commission on the auction selling price of the item.
So for a $100 investment coin, the owner ends up with about $20 in the pocket!:eek:
 
Ah yes we will give you a $24 coin and a cheap $5 Chinese made watch for only $59 hahaha still can’t believe people fall for this stuff .
