A friend in mining exploration approached many iron ore and bulk metal miners for emploment this year. The message she has gotten is that their exploration and development departments are all being scaled back.

For all the requirements of continuous disclosure, the workforce generally knows better than the market how an industry is faring. Sometimes they know better than their bosses as well. It turns out that the resources workforce started battening down the hatches well before the chief executives started voicing caution.
