I was told before to check all my colored proof dragon coins-1oz and 1/2oz- because of this issue, but did not pay attention until today.Whatever I have all of them has a milk spot, some of them has it on both sides.

Just a heads up for u guys to check all yr colored proof coins and if u still have the invoice contact PM and send them back. Also they advised me if that coin is not from them(PO) I have to take it back where I bought it and ask refund as PM does not know if that particular coin actually comes from PM.:))What a joke!Of curse not,it is from China and it is counterfeit...that is why the milk spots:)))

Some of my coins has a really low COA-under 40- and they are the same.So seems like it does not matter if it is an early bach or later on was sent to the local PO.

Hope I helped:)

BTW,I'm checking all my coins right now from PM:))

Wow. If this turns out to be a problem, what a joke.

I have recently written off Canadian Maples, and the Canadian Wildlife series, if would be a shame to see Perth Mint having these troubles as well.

Just a quick update.I took back a bunch of coins to the local PO for refund. They needed some time to figure out what to do but they eventually did refund my money. The other coins I have to send back to PM and wait for their respond:) I'm afraid to buy anything from PM :) If this happened once could happen again! Now I have to check all my coins every months if they are still good...

Just another quick update in this matter. If u have bought some of these coins from the local PO and u have the receipt take it back and demand for refund as PM won't do a think as I was told by them.

The problem is that there is NO schedule when would milky spot would appear. When I just got the coins, I check ALL of them, none had milky spot. but after a couple of weeks, one would show milky spot. I bet after another several weeks, other may show up.

So far, only Canadian wild life and Austria Philharmonic coins have them. I will keep checking with Perth mint ones.

Lessons: If one wants to flip, he should flip them earlier, since if there is milky spot, it will very hard to sell for a decent price.

So far, seems New Zealand mint coins have no one report milky spots?

I've got some 1 oz Maples with the spots but it doesn't bother me in the least because they are bullion coins that I bought for very close to silver spot and will sell for very close to spot. No real skin off my back. But when I pay a BIG premium and that premium is wiped out because of milk spots, things are much different.

Given that, I don't now have any spots on any of my Perth coins.

You are right if you bought the coin at minimal mark up over bullion price, but perth mint dragon never sold at bullion price. So the milky spots is very bothering.

Even Canadian wild life coins, often times, sold $3-5 OVER the spot price, sometimes more. That makes collectors lose money if they get some milky spot coins

Just received the refund for the 1oz dragon from PM.We agreed they will pay for the return shipping to as this issue was not my fault but they only paid half of it:) At least I got back the money and got rid of the dragon:)

Scotsdales also have a bad milk spot problem......I'm not sure whats happening out there in the minting world.....but it appears the problem is becoming generic amongst the mints.....

I've read on other post that its caused by the minting process...... so all of a sudden the mints have changed their minting process........something very very fishy is happening

I'm relatively new to the precious metal game.....have milk spots always been a problem or has it only just been within the last 2 years.

I can confirm I have 1oz and 5oz coloured dragons which have milk spots.. actually not spots - more like spludges... .very large.. very ugly... coins now only worth bullion. boo.

Seems like more and more milk and other spoting occurs but the question is if any mint around the world care about their product and customers to solve this problem or greed is all over them as pm selling is skyrocketing?:)

This is a Perth Lunar Dragon Proof no colours. That is neither a lighting abherration nor a UFO! :)

That's the game you play with flipping I guess. And it's always the unexpected things that catch you out!

So does anyone here know what exactly causes this or how we can find out?
I have been told that the final finish of the coin will prevent or allow toning. This is why 1990 kookas and 1998 kookas are mostly all toned. Maybe milk spots is the same?
