Midnight to 6am - Overnight Spot Watchers Spot...

US and Israel teeing off against Iran today will see Au and oil/energy prices spike come open of trade Monday.

Whilst the AUD has appreciated against the USD in recent weeks, I might go fill up the car before the oil companies raise prices Monday.

Yes, looks like Israel has preemptively struck Iran and is now under a state of emergency. A big Black Swan flapping around!

Wouldn't call it black swan event. Was 100% going to happen around this time period. US sending this many troops and equipments doesn't make sense unless those in power planned and wanted war. Decapitation strike is the usual playbook for first strike.

Call my paranoid, but I suspect cme see this too and think it can squeeze in a outages a few days back. Hence the price action without caring too much if it seem very suspicious.

From what I understand, there is discussion around potentially reducing the CGT discount from 50% to 33%, with possible consideration around the May budget. However, nothing has been passed or accepted at this stage, so it remains unchanged for now.

That said, I wouldn’t be surprised if it eventually moves from 50% down to 33% at some point. Governments are always looking for additional revenue, and capital gains concessions are an obvious target.

What I find interesting is that while gains are taxed, losses don’t exactly result in the government sending you a cheque. You can offset them, sure — but there’s no “reverse CGT” where the government shares in your downside the way it shares in your upside.

Just my two cents — worth keeping an eye on.

If this is really real Gold and Silver will go crazy tommorow.

Unlike Saddam, there's plenty more Mullahs that can fill that void and keep the Iran show going...I think Trump and US DoD's view this will take a few days. maybe a tad optimistic.
I think DoW and Mossad pretty well know where they live by now. Let's see if there's any rush to fill the void - seeing that Iran has pissed off all their neighbors as well; attacks to civilian targets such as the Dubai airport and Burj al Arab case in point. The mullahs (and their supporters) don't seem to be the sharpest tools in the shed, all I can say.
