WASHINGTON (MarketWatch) - Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke said Thursday that if Congress doesn't agree to increase a fast approaching $14.3 trillion borrowing limit it would result in an increase in interest rates, a worsening deficit and a destabilized financial system. "The costs would be an increase in interest rates which would worsen our deficit and hurt all borrowers in the economy," Bernanke said at a Senate Banking Committee hearing on the financial system. "The worst outcome would be that the financial system would again destabilize, which would have extremely dire consequences for the economy."

MMMM seems that if dey flush da dunny they are Fooked, and if they dont they are Fooked anyway. Just as well dey have so much dunny paper at hand and an excellent manufacturer to maintain supply huh, to be sure they have a poop deck equal somewhat to our own fine ship, tho da shark's themselves would die tryin to get tha shit out of them folks.

Ahh well, all be fine on da good ship SS. Patience is a virtue we all live by here and time be on our side, Stack and be sure, your silver in da hand is yours to hold and to have, while paper can be burnt in seconds and used to fuel the flames of deceit .

We are not the first to be deceived nor will we be the last, but if we know our enemy well we will win in da end and play them at there own game well, just as those who have gone before us have. One battle doesn't make a war .

Captain Turk. Sorry I couldnee do the deck patrol las night. Our good doctor gave me some tablets to ease my anxiety and stress of these parties of late. He said not to feel so cocky that I could go the distance. I think I be drugged captain, fell asleep on the crows nest and woke up as stiff as a board.

Will do a double shift to make up for it tonite.

I'm predicting a recovery of sorts tonight
at NY close.

14th mate Errol.

And for any old timers here, a beautiful and now forgotten Australian piano composition. I bet no-one here remembers watching this as a kid....
Aye Jonesy, and you'd lose your bet in a hurry around here. It was before "Skippy" and "The Beachcombers", but after "It Could Be You", and "The Mavis Bramston Show" as I recall.

BTW how is Polly doing Cap'n? Last time I saw him he looked nearly comatose, like a vegetable nearly.

Thank you for asking Southern Cross. Yes, it's quite remarkable the change that's come over Parrot since Dr Karlov brought him back from the dead. Poor Parrot has been though quite a lot, and is resting quietly in his cage at the moment. Positively REFUSES to talk to me now. He's off his seed too barely glances at the seed dish now. I took him out for a brisk walk on a leash yesterday, but he just dragged himself along the deck with very little enthusiasm. Then I thought a quick flight around my cabin might help, so I threw him into the air, but he struggled to stay aloft and soon landed and lay there quite still.

I think being killed was pretty hard on the old bird. He probably looked into the abyss and saw nothing staring back at him, and decided to keep away from the abyss from now on. Probably character building in some small way though.

It's his bath time soon. Maybe a good soak in a tub of hot brine will help him recover some of his missing senses.

Avast there Errol43!

It's good to see you're taking care of yourself. You're in good hands with Boris. You know how much we love your work, but if you don't have your health, you don't have anything. The crow's nest is really no place to be when you are under the weather. Frankly, you've been working too hard lately and have begun to look half-dead some of the morning crew have been calling you Errol21.5 behind your back. The very last thing we want right now is for Dr Karlov to revive YOU from the dead like he did for our dear Ozama Un Leaden, oops, I mean Miss Bitsbemissin.

Have you tried some of Hotel46's limeandakokanut? It's very invigorating and cures scurvy and dyspepsia. I might even add a drop or two to Parrot's bath tonight.

Now listen carefully Errol43, we picked up a new passenger last night a Mr Anonymous4444. (Just between you and me, I think he might be a Vogon because he writes a lot of fancy poetry and such stuff, although he doesn't make a big deal about it... probably the shy sensitive genius type. So we'll need to all lift our game now and don't drop no double negatives and such when he's around.)

Aye, and glad we will be to see THAT on the horizon matey. I'm mighty glad someone else has got their eye on this matter. I've been looking at charts until I've become a chartered captain. This week I've had to draw a line that extended off the chart, and down the leg of me table and out the cabin door down to the lower deck - just to keep up with this price action. I was about to make a prediction about tonight but Mighty Atom just came past with her Hoover and hoovered all my calculations right off the deck...

So anything could happen tonight!

SPOT USD: $35.29 and rising.

I hear da the music playin, der men singin they be, da Captains sleepin, polly near his knee. never far away is he. I have a thought, polly may know da secret, where the good Doctor be.
$35.29

Arrhg that polly be a wild one , tho I think he be a little more quiet and timid since the good doc went to work on the remains , twas a foul mouthed and rampageous beast before he was reincarnated , tho while da new polly be more likeable he just aint da same, tho da Cap'n is overjoyed to have him back.

Seem's we have the enemy on the run with nary a blythe berg in sight an smooth sea's ahead, tha crew be quiet tonight but tis to be expected after the work of the last week.

Da drinks be on me tonight , and ye new barman Anon4444 does mix a wicked cocktail with fancy dressings carved from carrots of all things, Look what Anon knocked up for chef
