Another interesting night ahead.
NY opened 35 minutes ago.
Usually takes a few minutes for spot to settle down - after the initial daily trades get out of the way. Might be a bit of metal buying to support the price in early trading but gold will probable come under attack again tonight, which might weigh on silver. Nothing we haven't seen before though. As some here expected the gold margins were increased last night, hammering down the gold price nicely. I expect the downward trend to continue tonight, but to be less extreme than last night.
Here is an enlargment of the silver chart, showing last night's and today's action:
And here is today's gold chart - well worth a long look at this one:
In gold I think we can look for spot moves somewhat echoing the late April takedown.
For gold, both the recent up-move and the sudden down-move have been severe.
The chart suggests (to me) that JPM might be trying a new approach rather than merely suppressing the metals heavily (day and night) they now seem to let the metals run up the chart strongly (drawing in fresh longs) then -- once the action becomes top-heavy and unstable -- they use late night margin increases and heavy shorting (etc.) to hit the metal hard over a period of several days. Tonight will be day three.
This 'seems' to be their current play at the moment.
If they can get either metal down to the 50DMA they can do some technical damage to trading which probably gets them all bonus brownie points or something.
(They might try to hit silver down to its 50DMA tonight. See the green cirle above - it's looking tempting. Watch and see - and grab some online bargains if you are buying - like I am currently.)
I'm off below to plot our now course....
