Melting silver coins

I bought 4x 1/2 ounce liberty lobby andrew jackson coins and i think they look pretty gay so i was thinking about melting them down, if i melt them down into a 2oz bar will that bar still be 999 silver since the coins are 999 fine silver?

Yes, but it would probably be easier to just sell them and buy something else with the money.

Someone may well buy your lame coins but almost no one will touch your 2 oz blob... IMHO. I would only suggest you melt only for research purposes and no other reason.

even though they are kind of dumb looking rounds, i have 6 of them. I keep them because they are the only fractional ounce bullion that I have. I'd just keep them. Half ounce silver rounds are a good thing to have in the stack. When it comes to stuff like that silver is silver.

This ^^

When it comes time to sell silver or gold, it needs to be recognisable in order to trade without having it assayed.

By the time you have a 2oz blob assayed, you'll pay more in fees than the blob will be worth IMO.

Ah yes , It would be good to have fractional silver for when silver prices go over $100 so i may keep them, n by the way i paid $25 for each
