I can't be the only one that has noticed this, but it sure looks like it. It appears to me that the 2016 silver libertad has a new design as for the first time ever, there is a second nipple displayed on the right breast of the Angel. Additionally, the left breast nipple is a set of concentric rings, instead of the single ring. I have an MS 70 of the 2016 and a BU roll as well. All feature these new design elements yet I have been unable to find any other source that even mentions it!

The actual statue that the Libertad coin depicts, Monumento a la Independencia, has nipples, no question about it. Maybe it's about time that the Mexico mint update their depiction of this amazing statue to more closely represent the actual statue in all its marvelous detail.

And with the new minting techniiques developed over the past couple / few years, wouldn't it be neat to see the Mexico Mint produce an ultra high relief version of the kilo Libertad using the latest SmartMinting / micro-minting technique?

Actual final mintage numbers for Libertads have always been somewhat of a mystery. Even the Mexico Mint has conflicting mintage numbers in their own various publications. Even with the very small numbers of PL kilos produced, they have conflicting mintage numbers. The Mexico Mint really needs to start getting their act together regarding this....after all, how difficult can it be to keep track of the production of a few hundred coins a year (for the PL kilos).

Mexicans see administration and organisation as secondary to production.
Take for ex the 1 oz, during the decade 1982-1992 they didn't even bother to count bullion and proof separately, only combined figures.
You're looking at sweaty guys in front of a flaming furnace, what'd you expect? :D
